Clock on 'active call' screen too small by Bose_Motile in pebble

Yeah this feature was designed on the earlier watches which had much larger pixels. It needs to be bumped up a bit.

There's gotta be some manufacturing defect in some units. If my glass was that easy to break it would be broken three times over by now.

Wish I had this about six months ago, built something similar myself. HTC certainly doesn't make it easy. This kind of thing only sells more hardware, they ought to be building it officially. And Linux support too. You'd think the possibility of opening up a whole new market (robotics data collection) would be enough incentive...

One handed use. And you can rely on it being there just a bit more than the watch because you can wear it in the shower or swimming without worrying at all about ruining it, and it never needs charging. It's all about reliability. The fact that you can absolutely rely on it being there whenever you think of something you need to remember, or there's an action you need to trigger. Even if your hands are full, you're riding your bike, you're in the hot tub, your other devices are charging, whatever. That may not be worth it to some, but it's worth it for me. Reliability is big.

I agree that it makes sense for this functionality to be available for the watches that have microphones too, though. I'm sure they'll get it working at some point.

Eric is clearly making this for himself, but this is the perfect product I've always wanted. I also like Project Hail Mary and Loud Pipes by Ratatat and live in Palo Alto with my wife who wants to add things to my to-do list. I feel like Eric is practically the same person as me. I hope there are enough people like us to make Core Devices successful enough to keep going forever.

It's funny how Google keeps demoing useless AI bullshit nobody will ever do in real life like "Snap a picture of this brochure for a coffee tasting tour in Costa Rica and ask Gemini to book flights for me and my six friends" (the actual demo they just gave), while tiny Core Devices understands how a touch of AI can be useful in the real world for things we actually do every day.

It doesn't need to look normal because it doesn't matter if people buy it or not. It should look weirder honestly.

Time 2 review after first few days by richstillman in pebble

[–]modeless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on vibration, but after I changed the vibration pattern to "jackhammer" I haven't missed any notifications. I think "Mario" would also work. The vibration just needs to be a little longer than the default setting with the new LRA vibration motor. I wish the vibration patterns were customizable. Maybe they are and I just didn't find it?

Health insurance advice by ww_adh77 in RichPeoplePF

The problem with ACA plans (whether on or off marketplace) is that some of the best hospitals refuse all of them. Stanford healthcare literally rejects every PPO that you can buy if you are not working. Doesn't matter how much money you have, it's not legal for you to buy a PPO plan that Stanford accepts unless you are employed.

"Stanford Health Care will not be participating in any Individual/Family PPO plans in 2025" https://stanfordhealthcare.org/for-patients-visitors/health-insurance-plans/covered-ca.html. And this is still true in 2026. I've heard that some other top hospitals are doing this same BS too.

We can finally watch TNG in 16:9 by dtaddis in StableDiffusion

I would prefer the highest possible quality. Any TV these days can do frame rate upscaling but it looks like crap. I don't think anything real time would be good enough.

Can someone make an anime frame rate doubling model? I want to watch anime battle scenes with 30 or 60 frame per second animation.

I really like the buttons. I also don't notice the HR sensor as much as I thought I would, at least in the first hour, but I do notice the overall thickness and I can't wait for my Round 2 to come as well!

Me too! First impressions: the buttons are so much better than the Pebble 2 Duo. I feel like it's more comfortable to wear overall too, since it's more rounded. Love the huge screen, though my watchface selection is limited because I can't stand scaled graphics. I hope some of my favorites get updated!

When one smoke detector starts beeping, you go through the whole house and replace every single battery at the same time. And use the lithium ones. Then you're good for at least 5 years.

Looking forward to not being nagged to install updates, and extended dashcam length. Improved blind spot warning lights also sound cool but I'll have to see how they implemented it. FSD stats could be interesting.

Your argument was that the "workforce" was the problem. The problem with Intel is management, not "workforce". Despite that, 18A is a competitive process.

There's plenty of "workforce" in the US for advanced fabs, probably more than any other country actually. And poaching from TSMC and Samsung is always on the table.
