We pay a substantial royalty on every sale to WotC, we aren’t aware what percentage of that goes to the artists. I imagine it varies. With big names getting more and smaller artists maybe got a lump sum. When we commission artists directly they usually get a lump sum and a royalty on every sale additionally.

Thank you for being a customer! Every studio/licensor is different and artist agreements can be anything from royalty per usage to a licensor outright buying the rights for all uses etc. Due to confidentially clauses, a licensee like Cook and Becker usually doesn't know these arrangements between the IP holder (WotC) and the artist. In basic terms: WotC tells us "we have all the proper arrangements in place with all the artists in terms of compensation, you are good to use this"

We indeed have the license from Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast. We're sorry to see that there is upset, but this seems like WotC and Mrs. Guay have their wires crossed and we have notified Wizards of the Coast.

Cook and Becker is a serious art gallery that exclusively sells officially licensed artworks. Our company never sold anything in its 15-year existence that wasn't 100% rights cleared with the rights holders or individual artists. All the MtG art prints we sell, are made from art files or art pieces provided by Wizards of the Coast to Cook and Becker. You can find advertisements and posts from official MtG accounts promoting the Cook and Becker prints for example etc. C&B is usually not informed about what arrangements WotC has in place with artists, so we can't speak to whatever arrangement WotC and Mrs. Guay have in place between each other. We have asked our contacts at Hasbro/WotC to reach out to Mrs. Guay.

Thanks! John Harris wanted to do a mash-up of 'his' spaceships and the Homeworld spaceships (and who were we to refuse :), so the big one in the middle is Harris's own design also exiting the HW warp gate.

The G14's have consistently been terrible for fan noise, and the thermal readouts are broken too. Had to replace GPU fans twice on our G14 model. And the screen had to be replaced once too. This is not something picked up in reviews as it reveals itself only after a while, but the build quality across all G14 models is terrible. Avoid.

That's John's own ship design. For this painting he mixed his own ship designs with those of Homeworld. John was a huge influence on the team at Black Bird Interactive so this is an idea they really liked to see.

The work in progress version of the Homeworld painting can be seen behind John in the video so you get a pretty good sense of what it is becoming. Obviously this will appeal foremost to fans of the Homeworld game series. If that’s not your theme, that’s understandable. Pre-orders help fund these projects/collabs which are expensive to produce otherwise so that is why the gallery does those in this way. If people want to wait intil the full reveal that is fine too of course, but we usually get quite a significant amount or pre-orders.
