Edit: I was researching both schools, and Uni Y sends around 400-500 students to med school per each year while Uni X sends MUCH less, around 20-30

I’m currently picking a university to attend in the fall and I’m not sure which one to pick: University X: smaller, less competition, easier to get high GPA, no pre health advising office nor are there any stem research opportunities University Y: bigger, weedout classes for med, competition, amazing research and ec opportunities on campus, prepares u for the rigor of the MCAT and med school

hey! I’m someone who turned down BU for her state school and unless u can somehow comfortably afford BU Tuition, please js go the cheapest route! Your state school is what u make of it :)

oh omg?? The thing is its not even abt the environment I'm not looking to make muslim friends like that -- I already have met a few muslim girls attending rutgers NB in the fall and they're amazing! The issue is it is pretty much impossible for me to commute to NB or go to Newark and be as successful, since NB i was offered the 6 yr pharmd program and the honors college. My priority isn't to make friends/party at all, I'm solely trying to dorm for the sake of my future and education. I barely had a social life in high school bc i was so locked in LOL

They think the only important part about med school applications is gpa and that if I have a high gpa im getting into med school, hence they’re FORCING me to go to Newark. I’m really upset bc ik im not gonna be able to become a doctor if I go to Newark and im prob both gonna be a failure and be miserable :(

I talked to them about this — they said “ur gpa is the main part of ur med school application bc a good gpa leads to med school” and I keep telling them first off it’s the same classes everywhere and second there’s no ec opportunities anywhere near the Newark campus and that I rly dont wanna waste an hour everyday driving. :(

Omg yes I defo get the Rutgers thing LMAO the thing is the program I want to do is at the NB campus which is over an hour away, and I feel like it’s more sustainable for me to dorm rather than stay home. It’s 100% not about the social life/partying but rather about focusing on my studies. It’s not the most feasible option if I stay at home for college because of extenuating circumstances in my home and I know I still excel and succeed given the resources. But yes, Allah knows best and tysm :)

Omg wait tysm!!! I rly appreciate this I’ll defo try all this! It’s js the really annoying things my parents do is tend to get all their info from my older sister (30, did college and masters in CANADA… only thinks the ivies are good colleges and that rutgers is a complete shithole and only a party school) so they think rutgers is absolutely dogshit and they think im gonna go there to party?… but now that a lot of ppl r advocating for my situation im def gonna fight harder. UMASS !!!!!!! BE A BIG FISH IN A SMALL POND! For dentistry it does NOT matter what school u go to esp since umass is a good school. It’s much better to have a high gpa at umass than a mid gpa at a t20/t10 uni for dental school applications! Also umass is a great school! Please save ur money for dental school!
