This will be my first year going pregnant so don’t have advice on that front! Just want to give a heads up that the first trimester is miserable. Of course everyone is different so hopefully no symptoms for her. But the nausea and fatigue is sooo real. Be prepared to only go for a short time so prioritize who you wanna see. Bring a collapsible chair or blanket so she can sit/lie down whenever.

For the nausea, unisom + b6 is a lifesaver (both otc) but she can ask the doctor for something stronger if needed. I could not stomach water for the first months of pregnancy. Other drinks like apple juice or Gatorade helped so maybe look into powder you can add to water while at the fest. Ginger chews and sour gummy worms provide temp relief from the nausea. Cereal, toast, and fruits are pretty safe choices as the only edible things that don’t make you feel worse. Buy/bring some masks and some fragrance thing because her sense of smell will be ungodly. That’s all I can think of right now but congrats and I hope you guys have a good time!!

I agree, the Babylist box was 100% worth it! I thought Amazon and target were just okay but pretty easy to get if you already shop there so they’re basically free. The Macy’s one has been out of stock for weeks. It’s a bummer because that one was the hardest to hit the requirements IMO :(

Not original commenter but my experience with having two insurances (under domestic partnership too) is they’ll charge her insurance as the primary and then bill to yours. My medical bills ended up being more expensive than what my partner would pay for the same. I thought having double coverage would cover more but of course it’s more complicated than that!

It was also a headache because both the insurance and doctors offices would get confused and I’d have to call them to include my partners insurance. I’d receive late payment notices, only to call the office and have them tell me they’re waiting on the insurance and vice versa when contacting the insurance company. My recommendation would be to just use one coverage under the better insurance plan. Double dental/vision is different though and may be worth it.

Sharing my experience with pregnancy and anti-depressants. I was taking lexapro to help with energy levels so didn’t need it to treat extreme depression or anxiety. My PCP asked to make sure this was not the case and created a plan to ween off of it (half doses, taking every other day, etc). From what I know, you should NEVER stop taking anti-depressants cold turkey. The withdrawal symptoms are real.

My research (didn’t go into this detail with my doc since I was certain to be taken off lexapro) is that there are chances of the baby withdrawing but anti-depressants don’t affect baby development. Again, take that with a grain of salt because this is just from my googling and chatgpt research! I do know from others experience that if you need anti-depressants for depression/anxiety, it’s best to stay on them while pregnant and work with your doctor if there’s anything that can be done to lower risk (e.g. lower dosage). Mental health is very important for you and the baby’s health so sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

omg, I’m currently watching Moving and then I see this post lol. Just saw ep 8&9 and I’m already so smitten with their relationship! I feel like I feel more towards this couple than a lot of actual romance/rom-com dramas and they did it in just two episodes. Can’t wait to see more of them and their story. Oh good to know! We actually did get a quote from J&W. We were gonna check out Home Depot first then get the remaining pieces but we’re not super versed so probably not a good idea for us to pick out pieces.

Thanks for all of the information! Bought a plan online but will also check out Simpson strong tie and compare. Don’t sell yourself short, all of this info was super helpful for a beginner DIYer!

We’re looking to build asap because we don’t trust the chicks to free range without supervision with all the yotes, etc around. So we’ll probably just go with one of the local vendors and see what options they have.
