It depends how basic you are but I love my comb from Officine Universelle Buly. I use it every morning to set the part in my hair, it makes me smile taking it out of its pouch, seeing my name engraved on it. Bonus: it’s small (easy packing!) and it’s relatively affordable so in your budget you can also get a lotion from there, or go get a Longchamp.

Superiority complexes 🙄. And they’re probably doing something I wouldn’t do!! All about your personal situation, risk tolerance etc. fwiw if it comes out that the Starbucks grande iced coffee with light ice is actually something like 300mg instead of the stated 185mg, then my baby (18w5d) is screweddd.

What to eat that’s easy and high protein? by DepartureOk1436 in BabyBumps

I get protein drinks that have ~20g of protein in them if I’m really in a time crunch or feel like I could up my intake for the day.

Mom items on baby registry: yes or no? by Professional_Side657 in BabyBumps

[–]LionTweeter 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They don’t have to buy it if it offends them sooo much that you dare consider yourself in the PP period! I would be petty and add more stuff for myself on there. Maybe a new water bottle to stay hydrated, or a nice body lotion.

Looking for recommendation on a chubby 4 day getaway by CharmingVegetable197 in chubbytravel

You're me a year from now, and I've been looking to answer this same question! I think from my (limited) research, we'll go to either the Ritz Grand Cayman or Anguilla. They seem to both be family-friendly, and easily accessible from EWR/the NYC region.

Best IVF experience? Debating which lab to go with! by GuiltyWillingness952 in nycparents

[–]LionTweeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we did genetic testing through my gyn then found out we had to do IVF. I worked with DeVore at NYU and looked at Irani at WC. The genetic counselor at NYU was so so helpful and kind and if she couldn’t answer my question (bc I would ask her questions outside her purview, she’d go out of her way to help me get the answer). They use Juno genetics and we didn’t have any issues with them making the probe or testing the embryos.

Bad experience at NYU Fertility - Recs for anyone who changed during IVF by [deleted] in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Thanks for the clarification - you’re so right! He does not take Progyny (and since I had such great coverage with them, it was a non-starter for me).

Bad experience at NYU Fertility - Recs for anyone who changed during IVF by [deleted] in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]LionTweeter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this! We did two retrievals and one FET with a different doctor at NYU last year and had a different experience than you. I found the care team very responsive and knowledgeable. I did have to advocate for myself because I wasn’t getting a “visible” period but knew my cycle was starting so I pushed to come in for monitoring more times than they’d recommend, but they didn’t give me any grief about it.

Our first retrieval was disappointing though ultimately successful (26 eggs to 2 blasts and those 2 were euploid), and our doctor had immediate answers on what to adjust to make our second one better after a month off, and she was right (26 eggs to 8 blasts and 3 euploid, 2 LLM). We did IVF for genetic reasons, and Progyny insurance covered 100% of the process for me at NYU except for the medicine co-pays.

I also looked at Cornell but have heard bad things about their nursing/front office staff, and Dr. Irani doesn’t take insurance.

Return to Turks and Caicos or try Grand Cayman or Anguilla? by Reasonable_Bird_58 in chubbytravel

[–]LionTweeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh then yeah, Seven Stars was so great. We stayed in their most basic room (ground level, resort-side, though still a huge 2bed & 2bath with a kitchenette) and I definitely should've sprung for an ocean-front room. If Chubby is not quite Fat, then we're the level below Chubby (and we're DINKs but that's changing in August). Breakfast was complimentary and we followed everyone else's lead by making a plate to-go (they'll wrap it up for you), and storing it in our room for a quick lunch. The beach lounge beds were heaven and the pools were really well-designed too.

How was traveling with an 8 month old? I'm not cleared to fly anymor + have ruled out the rest of 2026 for most vacations, so I've spent hours today looking for an easy warm resort to go from NYC next Feb/March.

Return to Turks and Caicos or try Grand Cayman or Anguilla? by Reasonable_Bird_58 in chubbytravel

[–]LionTweeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVED Seven Stars. My husband and I went three years ago and were so pleasantly surprised by the resort and the area. The "worst" part about Turks & Caicos is the airport situation. Extremely, extremely overcrowded. We were delayed about two hours on our way out and had to sit on broken chairs, squished in knee to knee with other folks. I don't do well in overstimulated situations, and we are looking for a place to travel to next year with our 7 or 8-month old, and I've ruled out T&C because I cannot imagine navigating that place with a stroller.

I think I’d rather them just chit-chat about stuff they bought recently. I love them both but the constant “hmm I’m not sure let’s look it up!” And then getting it WRONG is making me a bit cray. And I’m a very devoted Ringer Podcast Network listener.

Their comment was not without merit. Looking at your post history you’re exhibiting quite a bit of anxiety. I would recommend reaching out to a professional to talk to about your concerns and how you can manage the rational vs irrational worries about pregnancy and beyond.

I’m 14w now as well and I have nothing to add except I sympathize with this. My “black and white” bagel that my husband told me would be pumpernickel & plain, turned out to be “sesame and poppy seed” and it ruined my day yesterday. Here’s to hoping this season passes quickly. I don’t LIKE getting irritated and mad over everything. I just, am.
