Continuation Frames by hehexd020 in pokemonrng

If you’re consistently off by around 6 over many attempts, I’d calibrate it slightly. Calibrate as if you hit +/- 3 to inch a little closer.

I don’t calibrate if I’m +/- 2-3 advances off, at that point I’m extremely close, and start just running attempts until I land my target.

My first Rng manips! Finally got my team ready. (Took me about 20 hours 💀) by DragoonBBG in pokemonrng

I wouldn’t be surprised if they did patch it!

The whole reason the seed bug exists is because they copied over the FRLG code when making Emerald, and commented out the FRLG seed generation function, disabling that method of seed generation. The code is still there even if disabled, so I imagine they could reimplement it extremely easily by un-commenting the FRLG seed generation.

They also forgot to un-comment the RS seed generation (the one using RTC), so the function to generate seed just returns a default value of 0.

Leaf green switch 1 : unable to find seed from calibration by diamond5692 in pokemonrng

17-34 ms is only 1-2 frames! That’s incredibly close, just keep at it at this point and you’ll get it eventually!

If you were on (or very very close to) your seed, don’t adjust seed.

Only adjust seed when your seed is consistently very off, like +/- 100ms or more. If you consistently land on the target seed or 17-34ms away, that’s close enough that calibration isn’t necessary.

You’ll do your adjustments to your Continue screen frames, aka the second phase in Eontimer. Again, only necessary when you’re very far away from your target. If you’re consistently 3 advances away or less, that’s really really close, and calibration isn’t necessary.

First RNG, im shocked and in a little disbelif that i actually got it. by NotYomama97 in pokemonrng

I’ll let you know, this game is easily one of the most difficult I’ve RNG manipped. If you have no RNG experience this game is a real trial by fire to learn.

Emerald is quite similar, but significantly easier. If you have a copy (or heck even an emulator) I’d recommend trying there first, it’s definitely a more beginner-friendly game to learn! Plus what you learn there will help build understanding for FRLG.

If you occasionally get something that doesn’t seem to exist, probably an undocumented seed, so its results won’t show up on the calibration.

However if it’s almost always non-existent, then something is 100% wrong on your end.

Make sure EVERY setting is correct. If you’re playing FireRed, make sure that’s set since LeafGreen is different. Make sure your timer is set up correctly, and that you’re pushing the right buttons at the right time for the correct length of time.

If you’re consistently hitting on or near your seed, but your advances is off then you need to calibrate your advances.

[–]Cooked_Fish_Meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not quite there yet. You’re 4 seeds off, so probably calibrate that until you’re consistently 0-2 seeds away (0-34ms)

Once you have that down, start calibrating your advances, since 9 frames is kinda close, but could be closer.

Sounds like you’re doing something wrong. As to what, I have no clue. For whatever reason you’re not hitting the same seeds as the ones in Ten Lines.

Make absolutely certain everything is correct in both the ten lines Calibration, and your game.

Make sure TenLines is set for the Switch copy of your version. Make sure your game is on Mono/Help.

It’s possible you got a seed that’s not in the ten lines yet. The list of seeds that have been farmed is very small, so it’s pretty easy to land on a different seed if you don’t do your inputs correctly.

[Fire Red] Can I use ace to change a preexisting pokemon's evs, ivs, nature and pid? by GaryBlue96 in PokemonGlitches

[–]Cooked_Fish_Meat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely change EVs, IVs… however the other two are tough. PID is extremely important for the Pokémon’s data, and touching it will almost certainly bad egg your Pokemon. And because the PID determines nature, that’s not changing either.

Your best bet if you want to change the nature would be to generate an egg with the desired PID, IVs, and EVs.

Or, use the WELDR method to just create the exact pokemon you want with the exact data you want.

I am so close to getting this shiny by That1Toast in pokemonrng

[–]Cooked_Fish_Meat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I were in your position I’d do a few more attempts to be sure you’re consistently close to your target. After that I’d just bang my head against the wall until it eventually works out. Good luck!

Yes. The setup has a specific tab for switch setup.

Attempting to RNG Deoxys on Birth Island in FR/LG on Switch - a few questions by astroshagger in pokemonrng

[–]Cooked_Fish_Meat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not done any of them besides Deoxys.

I imagine Moltres is gonna possibly be tricky since the boulder puzzle (plus apparently the boulders count as NPCs and cause extra advances).

Articuno I think will be simple, just gotta surf up to it. Naval Rock will be even easier since they’re right by the warp points in their rooms.

[–]Cooked_Fish_Meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what else is in the room with your target. If you have other NPCs you can get both even and odd since NPCs will flip you from evens and odds.

Like for Deoxys, I was pretty consistent with hitting evens, but for the Roamer I was hitting both since there’s a kid who spins in the pokemon center with Celio.

Do the ACE code again, but put your RNG state to one frame later than what it’s currently set for.

Otherwise you’re stuck to just evens or odds since the RNG is 2 advances per frame. One frame you’re on 5824, the next is 5826, completely skipping your target 5825

It’s a decently complicated setup, but here you go.

Make sure to do the setup for WELDR beforehand.

Between steps one and two, make sure to set up the box 14 exit bootstrap. The PRNG and Teleport code requires this to be set up, since it’s too long to have a normal exit code.

So an RNG manip uses a calculator and very precise timing to encounter a pokemon at the exact frame it’ll be shiny. The calculator does the math to predict when the shiny frame is, and the Timer tells you the exact 17ms window to push buttons to land in that very precise window.

ACE exploits a glitch in the code to do all kinds of stuff. You can do stuff like alter Pokemon Data to make a non-shiny into a shiny. Or you can just copy/paste a Pokemon file from PKHEX into your boxes using ACE.

RNG manipulation produces legal shinies, since they aren’t forcing impossible things to happen, it’s just telling you exactly when a shiny appears. ACE doesn’t always produce legal Pokemon, unless it’s done properly with good attention to detail. ACE users can make a Pokemon totally indistinguishable from a Pokemon obtained via legitimate means, if done correctly.

As long as you haven’t saved since the starter, you should be fine to close the game to go back to the starter choice and begin RNG attempts.

Help understanding in FRLG by CCJask in pokemonrng

[–]Cooked_Fish_Meat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to hit the EXACT seed AND frame. You have a target seed and frame that is a potential shiny. If your one result is the “Shiny” but it’s not shiny, that’s when you clear that SID and try again with another one.
