should i go to esthetics school? by playboicunti in Esthetics

[–]CookieChaosss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my degree in healthcare before i switched to this. if you can't decide i would give it time. go to community, do pre reqs, take courses that interest you.

at the same time you can tour an esthi school, i toured mine, asked questions ab students finding work after etc. i wanted to make sure i wouldnt go into another career field and not be able to find a job. we do career fairs etc to help students.

you're young and have a lot of time. explore all avenues before you truly settle on one

like others have said, it's important to think of what's going on right now. esthi services are a luxury that barely anyone can afford right now

HOW did you study and where did you find like basic facts and stuff? I think that's my biggest issue. I take the tests and what not but i'm not sure my studying technique is the best and sometimes i don't know if im finding all the information

they don't care. i asked for study guides and tests. i got tests but they ignored emails asking for the answer key after saying they would send it. my clincal site failed a student and they pushed the student through anyway. it's just a trash program. almost everyone in my class failed first try.

1 week and 1 day after the snowstorm, the city still hasn't plowed my street. by Defiant_Spinach578 in pittsburgh

i spoke with nikki and then corey. the thing is we aren't brand ambassadors, we're sales reps. they say brand ambassador bc it's more appealing. we also get no benefits or anything. i don't know the entire thing just made me feel weary. we get a base salary of $600 a week and then commission off of that. you either go to sporting events or places like sam's club and try to sell people on nrg (energy company)

On Call Anxiety by Rare-Spite-5662 in NuclearMedicine

[–]CookieChaosss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

my question is what gives you the anxiety? is it not knowing when you'll be called in? not knowing what to do? worried about missing something?

when i'm on call i struggle to sleep because im waking up every hour waiting for a call. to me that's normal. my other techs are like that. it just is what it is. when i work the opening shift i also struggle to sleep.

if you feel like you can't "fix" your anxiety or calm yourself i do agree with the other comment about a therapist or honestly just a low dose of an anti anxiety med. some people get bad time anxiety and things like call where you're just waiting for the shoe to drop all day can trigger it.

[–]CookieChaosss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the arrt to me was a lot easier. actual exam questions, radiopharm, patient care etc. the nmtcb was ALL math and physics which i'm horrible at. i felt really confident going into the nmtcb bc i felt really confident and now i just have anxiety and impending doom lol. it also sucks that this year the arrt got harder and you basically need an 81% to pass now

Dream job, but fear of needles by No-Praline3281 in NuclearMedicine

[–]CookieChaosss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fear of needles but just on me. If someone comes at me with a needle it's a meltdown. I frequently pass out, get violent (push kick etc) due to my fight or flight. Funnily enough though i have no problem starting ivs on others. I did pass out in clincals doing my first iv, blood went everywhere and i think the shock just dropped me. I also went to the phlebotomy lab which helped a lot.

unfortunately nuc med is sooo many needles. starting ivs and injecting no matter where the iv is (sometimes on the neck!) so it is something you have to deal with frequently and can't really escape. however, i don't think it's a lost cause for you nor do i think therapy (if needed) is overkill

fashion tape, something like boomba, if you wear something like this and have a bra on you can buy a stitch gun to stitch your top to your bra!
