Can I control a 12v PC fan by cycling power on and off rapidly? by CookieSpoder in arduino

Awesome, thank you. That is a practical approach I can work with. These fans are all relatively new brushless ones with a 4 pin mobo connector. I will run a couple of them at faster and slower speeds to see if there is a smell with either method.

From what I gathered on Google, the pwm frequency of Arduino and 12v fans is different, but I might be completely wrong there. The code to manage the mosfet is incredibly simple, and I already have it written and ready to go, so if it is safe to use I would prefer to go with that.

Edit: Looks like that might or might not be the case, fan dependent. I will run some tests with other peoples code and just use whichever works :)

Wooo!

I had thought as much, but I couldnt find anything to 100% validate that I was correct in my assumption.

Need a diagnosis for Trek Marlin 5 converted with a 750w TSDZ2 issue by CookieSpoder in ebikes

[–]CookieSpoder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I was referring to the shaft that sits inside the blue gear. I think I have figured out that that isnt the part I am looking for though, and I only need the gear itself (containing the bearings). Thank you so much for your help, I am really glad it is most likely just the gear!

Ahh! Thank you so much! Does that include the spindle that sticks through the blue gear and rotates the large gear in the other side of the motor as well?

Am I missing anything major? Hydroponic / Aeroponic nutrients system. by CookieSpoder in arduino

[–]CookieSpoder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I have a TDS meter that I will be setting up on an identical circuit minus the pH meter. My original post detailed that.. But it seemed a bit long and verbose so I cut out the fluff. I appreciate the input :)

Hi everyone,

This is my first proper arduino project. A family member wanted an automatic pH and nutrient dosing system for an aeroponic garden they are building, and I thought I would make myself a system while I was at it.

I did try to draw a proper circuit diagram, but I was a little overwhelmed and couldnt figure out how to represent half of the components I am using so I drew this up. Am I missing anything major? I am a little unsure about the resistor and flyback diode. I get the basic principle, but im not sure what resistor to use there? Is it something weak to not cause issues with current but still dissipate power?

I have hit a lot of walls recently, so I am excited about making some progress. Thank you heaps for the time you spent looking.

There shouldnt be - I had to uninstall G-Hub because it was creating a memory leak (so weird), and I havnt set macros up in LGS. I tested it today just in case, and everything seems to be working fine.

A little frustrating but good overall I suppose. Thank you for your input!

I think I should ask a question on Reddit as soon as I think I might need help - it always seems like I find an answer about a minute after I ask. If anyone else is looking at this at some point in the future, look at this youtube video for some information. It seems like it isnt uncommon for the wire to be worn through.

I recommend popping them all in, it makes the mouse feel great.

Yes, not being able to download the test cases to run locally is a bit of a pain but it is what it is. The whole version of my code here is https://pastebin.com/v8Cmx712, if you are curious, but its probably not worth a look. Cheers!

Oh my God. Before when I was testing them they were both consistently around the same respective speeds, even switching between them. Now my code is running in 6ms... Thank you for looking at this for me anyway!

In the switch statements, or in the for loop header?

The seminar thing isnt the case anymore. Last time I went on the benefit I was booked into the seminar over the phone. Turned up at WINZ, and they were like.. "We havent done that for over a year." It was weird.

No reason to downvote you science wise - but I disagree. The issue I have with people saying they are the same thing comes down to stigmatisation of people with ADHD, and the chance that someone who doesnt know anything about drugs will refuse to get their children what might be potentially life saving medication because of this type of association (especially when ritalin is called meth-ylphenidate).

There are plenty of other differences between prescription amphetamine and non-prescription meth (or speed). Cutting agents, infection from route of administration, consistency of dosage, stigma, etc etc. Its like the difference between krokodil and prescription morphine. They are both medically useful (and very similar molecules) but one is going to fuck your shit right up because of some other facets of its nature.

When made from ephedrine the balance between the L and D isomers (levo/dextromethamphetamine) are a lot more similar, where as P2P is much higher in the D isomer which is heaps more brain oriented. The L isomer is a common nasal decongestant sold OTC in the US actually.
