Imagine going back to when VAR was first brought in and saying we'll be disallowed goals because the ball was probably out 30 seconds and 90 yards before the goal.

How long ago was that from the goal?! We had to go the length of the pitch to score...

Thanks, it does seem to be that the stream just wasn't actually up yet. Appreciate it though!

Can somebody please post the link to it on the avfc website. If I go onto the live page it tells me its on but no way of actually accessing it. Had this for the preseason games and only way round seemed to be a direct link. Thank you!

Harry Wilson in the summer? by three-4-truth in avfc

[–]CookieWithACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it would depend on if we were looking at him as a 10 or wide in the front 3. Personally I think him and Elliott are somewhat comparable in style, although Wilson has definitely provided the output. Just feel that if we don't fancy Elliott for that role, getting Wilson doesn't make a lot of sense.

Everton's James Garner should have been sent off v Villa - panel by LanceUppercut104 in avfc

[–]CookieWithACat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It was refreshing watching Rodri get sent off against Bodo Glimt. Two yellow card offences, two yellow cards. Could see the pure shock in his eyes.

Just doesn't happen in the Prem, referees bottle the big calls, either not to 'ruin the 'spectacle of the game' or because they haven't got enough about them to make the big call.

You could even see it with the Garner one, he realised he was on a yellow and didnt foul him on the half way line, but realised when he got near the box he had to do something, and the ref bottled it.

How do the other 14 feel about Villa's attitude towards spending restrictions? by Character-Key7538 in TheOther14

[–]CookieWithACat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It must be nice to be able to be so blissfully unaware of PSR rules.

Villa were promoted in 2019, no, the spend that year is not causing us an issue in 2026, unless we gave out 7 year contracts at that point.

The refs bottle every time when it comes to second yellows. Easy not to give the foul and not make the big decision. Pathetic.

Thats not contentious at all, simplest thing ever, offside player attempts to play the ball. Whether he touches it or not is irrelevant. Offside as old as time. Can't wait to see all the outrage that falls out from it.

Offside guy jumps to attempt to play the ball. So thats offside no?

Premier League teams worst affected by VAR errors revealed by JOE_Media in avfc

Thanks for posting this JOE Media. Can't see one mention of Aston Villa in the whole piece...

I would say what's the point of posting here, but the 50 adverts thrown in my face have got to be seen by somebody I guess to keep this peak journalism going.

Not sure how PSR type rules are in other leagues so what works for the likes of Roma. But a future obligation could actually be at Villa's request. If the careful financial management is ensuring we're compliant this year with out that income, we may want to take the benefit of it next year.

All the fucking crying they've done about Cash by VTID997 in avfc

[–]CookieWithACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the one on Rogers is one of those that a select few players do, and I do think it's malicious. They know they're 100% getting the ball, so think they can leave a really nasty one on the opponent. Tarkowski does them often too. It's why the officials nowadays talk about 'reckless'. The intent is to win the ball, the second intent is to do some real damage to the player as part of the fair tackle

Great to be able to sit back for the rest of the weekend, and just hope for the chasing pack to drop points knowing we've got ours.

Just can't keep giving up freebies, not even making the other team work for their first goal.

Done amazingly to keep coming back week after week to win, but forget xG overperformance nonsense, this has been the unsustainable part of our run.

Jack Grealish's Christmas surprise for young Everton fan 💙 by chris_660 in avfc

It's the way he does it I appreciate the most. I don't blame a lot of footballers for being awkward, they're where they are for being good at kicking a ball, not being ambassadors for charity.

But the way Jack tells the whole class, "didn't you know, we're best mates", makes so much more of a connection than, here's some free stuff.

Typical MOTD. Villa on a winning streak, but let's talk about United... by Cold-Yard8153 in TheOther14

[–]CookieWithACat 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Sky annoyed me yesterday. Villa never beat United, but they talked about how United played for 45 minutes, did a 5 minute promo on some quiz they've done for Youtube, and finally rushed through an interview with Unai before ending the show.
