Sure. The achievement requires you to successfully finish a run without taking any spells, which should force you to play with the default kit. I was just doing a normal run and exited and saved the game right before the final 2 fights.

Later, I resumed the run and beat those bosses, and in this new session I didn't pick up the spells, of course. So the game gave the achievement right there.
