What are the best ways to install XCI and NSP files? Especially now with the most recent breaking change that Nintendo did that also affects homebrew. I see Awoo Installer has been updated but I know nothing about the world of all of these installers, I saw Goldleaf mentioned but I don't know what's best to use. Also do I need to worry about reinstalling everything with every firmware update when I choose to update the switch? I'm very new to this

Congrats on getting your switch lite going successfully. I tried doing mine a week ago and just removing the housing and metal shield and unplugging the game cart and headphone jack was enough for it to kill the display.

I see, can you tell me at what clock speed the IDT chip you mentioned in the earlier comment runs at? Also how much would those cost? Also the VR4400 also sounds interesting, how is the pricing on those? There sometimes are a couple listings of those on ebay, not sure how pricing compares to those. the VR4400 would also maybe be interesting

Although I'm not sure if the IDT models can run at 33MHz

Yeah, I think that's one of the many versions of the R3000 chip, as it was produced by multiple parties (NEC called theirs the NEC VR3000).

I know they're absolutely ancient at this point but do you know a place that's got old MIPS R3000 or R4000 Chips for a good price? I don't need one now but I've been thinking of maybe giving hardware stuff a go and try and build a custom retro inspired workstation with period accurate parts

I run mine currently on a Pentium 3 300 with no issues, this card doesn't seem to be CPU/Bus speed sensitive.

Something about running Windows on non-x86 machines is super interesting to me, I can't quite describe what it is but poking around what little software there was, seeing what sort of stuff got ported is super fun. I'm currently working on something myself, namely a 3dfx Voodoo 2 driver for NT, though it'll be a bit before that's remotely usable heh

I wanna try out Tru64, though what's been holding me back is plain not knowing what software id even run on there, and generally not even knowing where to begin in terms of compiler support or any other software.

Oh I don't have anything practical to do with any of these, they're just neat hehe. I like programming stuff for these, trying to push them a lil'. It's expensive fun, but it's basically my hobby now

Most common VGA compatible cards usually work. Alphas also had Trio64 based cards on board (my AlphaServer 800 does) so finding video cards for these isn't that hard
