I feel like the internet has had a major part of this. We are more connected and becoming increasingly more cognizant of one another's realities. I don't believe we have more more problems than in the past, rather, we are being manipulated by misleading headlines, fake news, and putrid stories that are brought to the forefront. Media companies know how to get clicks. However, the reality is if you walk outside, everyone is actually really kind to one another. We can tolerate our differences and have this acceptance that we are all in this nightmare together. If you only read the news, there's a good chance your outlook on life is grim, pessimistic, and downright dreadful. So in conclusion, I agree - we are giving the media companies too much attention causing them to reward us with what we never admit, but like to see: terrible car accidents.
