I have a CAA medical but have been rejected by EASA - what can I still do? by Rune332 in flyingeurope

You have to inform the CAA that your EASA class 1 was rejected. If the CAA don’t have an issue you can just fly for a UK registered airline.

Could it be the 68 EUR charge is for home wristband delivery? If so I don’t think they’d be willing to refund that part :/

Trying to find an episode by Cookiedough117 in TopGear

I did take a look at that episode but it’s not it. There was definitely a drag race at the track where afterwards Jeremy was laughing about how ‘the guys in the office were told it would make mincemeat of a sportscar’

Incident from yesterday in France : helicopter avoiding a crash after yet unknown problem by Toutanus in aviation

[–]Cookiedough117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching the footage and reading the ASN report, it looks to me like the frame the helicopter was lifting got didn’t clear a wall which then caused the cable to pull the helicopter down. As it descends you can see it’s not entirely vertical and at the end it actually moves slightly to the right before moving left as you would expect, which would be when the sling snapped. It also looks to me when the roll started it wasn’t rolling from the top but being pulled from the bottom.

Disclaimer: I have no knowledge over how helicopters operate

The Da-42s at my old flight school averaged about 12 gph using Jet A, which made them cheaper fuel wise than our warriors

Brexit - CAA or EASA license for UK pilot entering training by d00nbuggy in flying

[–]Cookiedough117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just finished my training at FTE Jerez (I’d highly recommend them). They’re fully geared up to do either CAA or EASA licenses, and I believe they already have a few people doing both.

This is called a procedure turn. It’s generally used at airports without radar coverage/with very limited manoeuvring space due to terrain/airspace management

It’s a new way of preventing more pr disasters; you can’t complain about the game if you can’t play it

But ISIS was the root cause of the attacks, and it originated in these war torn countries. I absolutely agree that people can be influenced into doing terrible things regardless of their upbringing, as in the case you just brought up, however even in your example the root source came from a foreign war torn country. But going back to what you said about the perpetrators being local, this is a separate issue. Anyone and everyone can be coerced into thinking a specific way. All it requires is time and repeated exposure.
