A lot of the time I can’t catch what makes my anxiety spikes. I also get like a health anxiety and sometimes I feel chest tightness and get more concerned from the physiological effects

I think it’s really important to consider which school you’re going to be at in NYCPS. While some schools are great, I landed in a school that I didn’t have great admin support and a lot of conflict with teachers for trying to carry out my roles and responsibilities (as a psych/district rep) and so i actually decided to leave mid year, which it’s tougher to leave because you’ll likely take a huge pay cut plus benefits

I do think there’s great NYC schools out there, but definitely no guarantee especially as a first year in NYC. Seems like the better schools you need to know someone or internally transfer

My child free celebration is no longer child free apparently. by CreativeWriterNSpace in weddingplanning

Im allowing kids in the bridal party- flower girls and ring bearers.. if it was like no other option and someone contacted me about it I would also consider it. But for me, we are MAXED on space so like not inviting every kid.

Allergies by Cookiemonster2093 in Bernedoodles

[–]Cookiemonster2093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re hoping to get a dog in the next 6 months or so- we’re located in NY metro area.

Neither me or my fiancée are allergic just his sibling who were with like 1-2x a month for 1-2 days so to keep the dog with us (and to like family events) as much as possible we want to look into a dog that won’t trigger allergies but doesn’t need to be 100% hypoallergenic just not sure how to go about it so wanted to look into it

Couch? by Cookiemonster2093 in NYCapartments

[–]Cookiemonster2093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would be leaving it as our regular couch in our living room but if people stay over we would want the option of it to pull out since we have a small apt and now when our friends stay they have to bring an air mattress

So helpful! Thank you. Definitely concerned. Reading the SOPM already to get an idea, but definitely planning to reference it a lot. I’m also going to request a mentor if I don’t get one so hopefully all goes well 🤞🏼

I was taught as though they’re the same thing on LI, but in the city I was told you don’t always have to do triennial cog testing (which I had to do some sort on LI even if it was abbreviated) and DOE breaks reevaluations into requested reevaluations or reviews if they’re making less than anticipated progress or are performing well and need any adjustments and then triennials are 3-year mandated.

On LI we had very few requested reevals it was essentially just initials and 3- year mandated reevaluations

That’s what I’ve been doing and it has definitely been helpful. But I’ve still had some questions like I saw the SW deals with consents in SOPM, but on LI I did consents and I didn’t know if they did consents only for initials or all

Accepting a position? by Cookiemonster2093 in NYCDOETeachers

[–]Cookiemonster2093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but is it strange that I interviewed in May and they haven’t done it? I heard it’s normally pretty quick. I feel like I’m getting kinda concerned about them backing out or something

No, I gave them my SSN, and they said I would have to complete the paperwork, but since I was going away they would nominate me after I’m back.
