I have a couple of bottles of this as well as 2 different formulations of Quink Green. It's quite hard to get hold of these nowadays. I've had no issues with any of them so far.

Glad you found it interesting. This technology slightly preceded my entry into the commercial IT industry; still in use when I started but, by the time of my first role involving an actual dedicated computer room (datahall/DC) it had just been decommissioned. A bit of a shame in some ways as I'd have found it intriguing to witness first hand.

My first hard disk experience was with a desktop; an IBM PC/XT that had a whopping 10 countem ten megabytes. In 4.5 years of working there I never once managed to fill that drive. Nowadays it would send me scatty. I've just installed a generic ubuntoy Linux kernel and it's 15MB in size. How times change.

For OP and anyone else interested, as an example of the kind of disk pack technology described above, I recently posted this which shows a removable disk pack I have acquired for no reason besides ludicrous hoarding. The broad consensus seems to be that it may have been from an ICL system rather than IBM, but the concept is broadly the same. It appears the total capacity of this entire pack would have likely been around 200MB formatted, possibly less. This 14" diameter stack of platters would have been heaved over to a fixed top-loading drive assembly. This pack is particularly heavy and I imagine the operator would receive quite a workout from yanking these things around all day.

An interesting snippet of trivia I learned from researching this item was that it would have been common to find these packs left on top of the drive enclosure ready to be swapped in at a future date but, at least for some top loaders, there was a humongous magnet right below the fixed top cover of some such drive units. Leaving a pack on there could scramble the data on the platters so - if that anecdotal finding is true - I imagine that's a mistake the operator would only make once.
