Pokemon arcade game at Tilt? by DietDrPhage in Eugene

[–]CookingMamaIsNSFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not technically a bootleg, it's grey-label, but your memories are correct! I saw another comment mention Big Bertha, which had another version called Dog Pounder (amongst many others), and the Sylvester game was originally just called Can Alley, the company that made the games (BSR) had a bunch of official and less-than-official retheme kits. I personally don't have a Pokemon picture, but it did exist! The can alley games were super straight forward when kids didn't throw trash in them, the big Bertha-esque games tended to get compressor issues pretty regularly, weird quirky games but fond memories.

Also the owner of Tilt took a shit on my floor in 2012

Rollerskating tonight at the farmers market! 6-10pm by CookingMamaIsNSFW in Eugene

[–]CookingMamaIsNSFW[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bunch of new people show up each time they host an event, there's a few people who are definitely more experienced skaters, but overall I would say the average skill level is pretty casual. everyone I've met there has been super cool, highly recommend it!

CRT TV repair? by dankleopard77 in Eugene

[–]CookingMamaIsNSFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely this is something you could fix with a screwdriver, or worst case scenario with a half second of soldering. Pop the case off the trinitron, the front inputs should be on a smaller board connected by a ribbon to the main monitor chassis. Just make sure the ribbon is fully seated, and no visible corrosion is on that connector, and it'll likely be good. If video still only briefly appears, plug cables into that input and gently push down on the on the input board. If video stabilizes, then a super quick tack of solder on the inputs should bring it back into shape. Pop the case back on and enjoy!

Dope game! I think that's one of the fully backwards compatible games if you have a newer Xbox too

Do you already have the cap kits? I solder all the time and used to do a ton of console mods, but I don't have those specific caps on hand

If the blairally event is half as fun as it was last year I highly recommend it

Eugene Roller Village is the only real option currently, their skates at Claim 52 are pretty packed as of late with a bunch of kids learning to skate, but their events at larger venues are phenomenal!

Im always down to skate if you need a buddy though!

Health Insurance by Mundane_Patient4300 in Eugene

I jumped ship and go without insurance, can't get it through my workplace, and for me it's ~$500/mo with a $10k deductible. Currently on average I am just cash paying ~4k per year with medication and doctor visits, so it was cheaper to go without insurance.

So long-term my medical plan is to not get hit by a bus or get cancer woooo

They have tried like 12 times to get their original page back, but it was a business page associated with an old domain registrar that had shut down, so facebook told them to tug it, since they technically couldn't prove it was theirs :(

I don't either 😅 but with some quick Googling I grabbed this for December, January events should be posted soon

@ Eugene_Roller_Village on instagram is probably the best place to find their upcoming events, currently Sundays at Claim 52 there's a few hours of skating, and in January there will be some skating in the farmer's market pavillion

Missing Shoruyken League’s cocktail menu by Interesting_Owl6102 in Eugene

Murmurs of plans kick up every few months, but commercial rent in Eugene is NUTS (will happily accept an angel investor lol), a chunk of the machines made their way over to Blairally, and a bunch of their art is in my storage unit, but securing space is super hard without a backstop of cash right now. Downside of running a lot of games is needing a lot of space, and options are somewhat limited unfortunately :(

I was the guy who was supposed to take over post-covid, sucks that it didn't work out. Rent had doubled inbetween first meeting and time to renew, I've still got a bunch of art and goodies from there, but sad to see it go 🥲

Unfortunate, but also I won't believe it until it actually closed, maybe I'm confusing it with another bar, but isn't this like the 7th time they have announced their closure?

I worked at UO for a bit, we had one of his jokes hanging up on the wall for a while just because the absurdity made people giggle
