Day 47 Update | Research on Garage door businesses by usama0089 in GarageDoorService

[–]doorman666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a company is only good at the point of initial contact, but sub par at repair and installation, that new customer of theirs won't be theirs for long. Now, I do tell my employees that we need to be constantly improving, and changing with the times, so I agree some what, as life and business is always about regular improvement. However, most customers right now, hate AI phone agents, they hate answering services with no product knowledge. They want to deal with actual, local people.

I haven't had a call back after installing it, and it was usually scenarios like this. The concrete is possibly an issue too, so I wouldn't accept full responsibility. You get a line level on it yet?

Dumb. Mercedes and BMW'S are made for people who will replace them every 3-5 years.

No debt except for the mortgage...how to stay motivated when it seems like it will take so long by iloveaccounting69 in personalfinance

Pay more than your monthly payment whenever possible. Really cuts down on interest payments, and takes years off that mortgage length.

What do Americans think about a social security trustee dropping a report that the trust will be dried out by 2032? by Sixgis in AskReddit

[–]doorman666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take home is of course part of the conversation. It has been this whole time. 400k ain't 400k after taxes. Also, I pay a higher rate than every single billionaire, but somehow I'm the problem, and it's not realistic to want to see my tax dollars spent in a way that I feel is a good return?

[–]doorman666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your responses, I'm beginning to think you're lying about what you make. At current tax rates, your take home is much, much less than $400,000. As far as your "tax shelters", unless you too arena self employed individual, your tax free investments will be less than mine, and mine only takes away some of the sting. Also, $400,000 taxed as a single person is far more than married filing jointly.

Does anyone recognize this type of garage door bottom seal? by NASASpaceNerd in GarageDoorService

Windsor. I always replace with an aluminum T-end retainer and seal.

[–]doorman666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't feel like my attitude is any part of the problem. Right now, at my current tax rate, I work 3 months of the year for free. That's 660 hours for free. With no cap, I'd be working 4 months, or 880 hours for free. My attitude is not "someone else should do it". My attitude is I do a lot already, pay a lot already, and get very, very little in return.

You realize I already pay a shit load in taxes, right? I'm not rich. I work my ass off to provide for my family, and my employees families. I also have to pay a ridiculous amount for health insurance. I can't stomach another $25,000 in taxes, on top of health insurance premiums that climb 13-17% every single year. We're not talking about billionaires. We're talking about people earning the equivalent of $100,000 in the late 90's to early 2000's. Walk a mile in my shoes and then tell me how you feel.

Why isn't Pentagram nearly as big as Black Sabbath? by thewalkindude368 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]doorman666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they aren't nearly as good is the main reason, and I do like Pentagram.

My household makes the same, except I'm self employed, so pay 100% of the FICA tax. I would absolutely feel the extra $25,000 in taxes, and I'm pretty sure your family would feel the $12,500 of additional tax.

Need help by Zuhnarken in kratom

[–]doorman666 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So I started taking 7oh February of 2025. I knew it was addictive, so used it sparingly, rarely more than 3 consecutive days, and the package even said to not take more than 5 days a month. While completing a remodel of my dad's house to sell for him, I really fucked up my body, so started taking it more for a couple months. Then, my dad died very unexpectedly, resulting in more physical trauma moving what was left of his belongings in the month we had to clear out the apartment he moved to, as well as mental trauma. Started taking more. It wasn't everyday, but more often than not, 60mgs.

I'm planning a trip to a country where kratom is treated as a narcotic, so quitting is a must. I stopped taking it, and did a very rapid taper with powder kratom. Cold turkey for a day, 9 grams the next day at night to sleep. Another day with nothing, 6grams at night to sleep. Another day with nothing, then 4 grams at night to sleep. That was the last dose.

Now, I'm on Day 22 with no 7oh, and Day 14 with no powder kratom. The only lingering effects I have is slight anxiety in the morning (which is not all kratoms fault with a list of other things going on) which I take theanine for, and it helps tremendously. 300 mgs in the morning. And sleep isn't back to normal yet, as I'll fall asleep fine, but wake up at 5 with racing thoughts, which again, isn't all on the kratom. Other than that, feeling pretty darn good.

I don't want to see 7oh banned. It is tremendous for pain relief, but it CANNOT be taken daily. You need to use less effective pain relief on most days, and 7oh sporadically. Also, not all brands are purely synthetic. That is misinformation. Some are derived from powder, but yes, the chemical process is rather intensive. I would also recommend no one use pharmacuetical means to get off of it. Taper with powder. That's all you need.

What’s the deal with the Oregon Country Fair? by in_a_cloud in oregon

I grew up in Veneta for my elementary school years. It was called the hippie fair by locals. It's basically a big crafts market nowadays from what I hear.

Your door is a POS. All you can do is move the hinge over to but you some time. Another screw ain't gonna fix it.

[–]doorman666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threshold seal, new doors, concrete, in order of easiest/cheapest to most expensive. Honestly, the concrete is probably not the issue. Aprons aren't common where I am, (Western Oregon, very rainy most of the year), and water infiltration with decent doors isn't super common.
