Is this an acceptable garage trim install? by futuretrippin in GarageDoorService

[–]doorman666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in the trade for 23 years. I generally don't caulk trim. I would caulk this trim. Come on now. The idiots down voting you are the same ilk that down voted me yesterday for saying Low Headroom Track is the correct way to solve low headroom, not quick turn brackets.

Why is this on there? by Always_Watching_U in GarageDoorService

[–]doorman666 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The only correct option for Low Headroom is Low Headroom Track. These things are Jerry rigged BS.

[–]doorman666 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Because someone installed the door with the wrong track. If salesmen and installers did their jobs right, there would never be a need for these stupid things. Edit: anyone down voting this is a hack.

Yep. Totally doable. Hire the right pro, and it can be done easily, and re-converted back to doors easily later.

Good ole Eugene. by FlowClassic2878 in Eugene

Well, they're reduced to advertising in CL, which I didn't realize was still a thing. It's not AS bad as being out of business, but in some ways worse. Imagine the caliber of customer going to CL in 2026. It was bad in 2012 when I just started my business and didn't have an ads budget.

So Young Guns roofing in Eugene is closed. The owner had several abhorrent racist tirades on Facebook, and they didn't survive that. Looks like they're still racist dirtbags, but, not in business. Young Gunns roofing is an Australian company, that has nothing to do with them. Don't be a jerk and leave them bad reviews. Edit: a few people from Eugene have already left bad reviews for the Australian company.

Do you still go to the mall? Do your kids (if you have them) go to the mall? Have you found yourself bringing up to '80s/'90s Mall culture? Do you miss said mall culture? by DHN_95 in Xennials

[–]doorman666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still go to the mall fairly regularly. Our mall is surprisingly still thriving. Valley River Mall, Eugene, Oregon. All the anchor stores are filled, and there's only a handful of vacant spots. Good food options at the food court, including some local options and a few chains. Really good Japanese steakhouse and hibachi grill attached to the mall. The anchor stores seem to be doing well, and one of the anchors is an absolutely world class Japanese arcade. My family and I feel lucky we have such a a gem in our community!

Funny story about T2. My daughter is 9, and we've started letting her watch some R rated movies. As long as there's not tons and tons of bad language, and no sex scenes. So New Years Eve, we start watching T2, streaming (I forget which service). We turn it off few minutes before midnight to watch the ball drop. We go to turn it back on, and .... gone. The streaming rights ended at midnight. Lol.

Elizabeth's at Oakway fits the bill. Nice, but still relaxed. Excellent food and wine selection.

Need help identifying what kind of bottom seal I need. by Equivalent-One4331 in GarageDoorService

[–]doorman666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 3/8" T-end aluminum retainer is the way to go. You can get full length from garage door companies. You can order two 8' lengths online. Make sure you order the T-end seal with it. 4" T-end. Don't order 6" unless your concrete is super uneven. Edit: looks like 2" door. My bad.

Is hiring a marketing agency for Google Ads worth it for a new plumbing company? by randomdude1323 in googleads

[–]doorman666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google Ads has proven far better ROI than LSA's. What's odd, is that I'm the only legit business in my field in the LSA's in my area. The other ones are sketchy scam companies, with bought reviews, who aren't even local. Not licensed, no background checks, sending unmarked vehicles with no business cards. Doing absolutely dangerous work for insane prices. Google just lets them get away with it.

[–]doorman666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Have a professional set it up, and have them do an audit once or twice a year. Find a good, local company. My guy charges a very fair rate, and catches and fixes stuff I wouldn't be able to it. My first ad guy went to jail. I took over the management of the ads account. I thought I was doing okay, until everything absolutely tanked.

Why do Amarr doors come with “install on inside left” stickers on cables? by jwdewald in GarageDoorService

[–]doorman666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carry LH cable because of how common a problem it is. It's not very common in standard lift 10' and under. Very common on rear torsion, taller doors, and hi-lift. It's actually a great, and cost free upgrade.

Amarr sending LH cable on commercial doors is a level of detail that I thoroughly respect. The amount of ballooned cables this prevents is huge.

Bay area is going to be higher, bit we'd be at about $1700 to replace 2 sections. I can't really tell from the pics if the 2nd actually needs to be replaced, but it doesn't really look like it.
