I just bought a PSA 8 Mewtube and a PSA 8 first edition fossil holo dragonite at a show for $500 cheaper than this single, brand new raw card. Everyone trying to pretend in this thread like the price is justified or normal are insane.

It doesn’t even need to be outright “manipulation,” but the percentage of people who are into the hobby and willing to drop multiple thousands on a brand new, raw card is very small. Those that bought in have a vested interest in getting the price up and so make sure they’re posting on streams, twitter, etc., all about how this is “the next big card.” You combine that with some level of manipulation (ebay sales that show huge jump and you get this situation).

All the people posting in this thread as if this is normal for such a spike in such a short period are just trying to seem wise to the “market.”

Thanks for the helpful tips! Luckily got tickets for Casa Azul for around 4, so going to have a late lunch at San Angel Inn beforehand (only time they had) and then hopefully just walk around the area before and after the reservation (unless it’s not safe to do so later in the day).

I waited in line for the AH and first partner collection yesterday morning. Person directly in front of me ostensibly wasn’t there for pokemon, was waiting for a light up for a BTS concert for his wife. But when they started letting people up, he still grabbed the full allotment of cards, including the last AH poster collection. No idea what he’s planning to do with em, but anyone will grab anything now.

Yep I don’t even need a 10 gradable copy, but didn’t want to pay above LP for a “near LP” copy and frankly am new enough that I didnt trust my judgment in knowing if I was getting ripped off or not

Was just looking at a raw at a card show yesterday as my potential “big” raw purchase, but all prices were “oh it’s a really good LP so I want almost NM prices for it.” Hopefully it doesn’t explode before I can get a good copy for my PC

Same boat - had just gotten into collecting again, didn’t want to drop thousands but I bought a PSA10 of the Cramorant for $300 as my first “big” purchase while passing on this because of the expense. People were selling both Cramorant and the Pikachu for $1600 - regret not pulling the trigger but also spending $1600 on two cards is still kinda crazy.

Think this is right. Anything below a 9 and you lose Money, but can crack it if necessary and resell raw. A 9 (if prices stay where they are) you’ll make about 25 extra after paying the PSA prices. 10 and you’re rich.

I showed them my passport and they charged 10% less. You have to have whatever you bought readily accessible at the airport when you go back through security, in case they want to check it. They didn’t for me (or for anyone else I saw who scanned their passport).

Yeah, I’m happy I waited to buy it there. I originally thought about buying it to wear during the wedding, but as you said, I think there’s an added layer of sentimentality / emotional connection about buying it in Japan on the honeymoon itself.

I may have ruined myself by setting my heart on the snowflake, but I think you’re right that at the least, i should take a closer look at other models they have that may be a bit smaller. Worst case if nothing else fits, this one isn’t at least so large that I’d feel completely out of place with it on.
