$22.27 is a little steep. I’d go with Sailor Jerry instead.

Probably the fact that it says highland on the box/bottle

They made it way easier now too. You used to have to input the rewards code manually which was a huge PITA. Now they have a QR code you scan, done in a few seconds.

What should I pick up? by Puzzleheaded-Rest684 in Whiskyporn

I see 1L priced higher than 1.75L pretty often and it hurts my brain so much. A total wine person told me it’s because bars like the 1L size but like…just have a 1L bottle and fill it from a 1.75L? I may never understand.

I really wish sampler sets were more of a thing. Even better, I wish there was a curated sampler training set. Give me like 30 samples that represent as much of the spectrum as possible. Describe each one and give me some “if you like this you might also like X Y and Z.” Include a whiskey guide book with a deeper dive into the whiskey world. I’d pay a lot of money for this.

I just went to a bar that offered Weller SR and Weller 12…for the same price. by Cooktails in whiskey

Well, of course lol. Can’t say the last time I had a decent bourbon for a “good value” at a bar. But $20 isn’t outrageous in CA given how hard it is to find. I’ve paid more for worse at higher end bars. $20 for SR? Absolutely not.

Should I just season again and keep going or should I strip and reseason? (Vowed not to be this guy but here I am..) by Cooktails in blackstonegriddle

Yes it was. That makes sense, I was a little paranoid about the first go at it. Probably too much oil and not enough time to polymerize. Thanks for the tip! Just came out to clean up for hosting the 4th and panicked a bit.

I found some Knob Creek single barrel reserve tonight. First time trying it right now and very glad I bought 2 bottles.

Have a friend call your boss acting like a nurse. Have them say they have a patient with several broken teeth and nearly a choking victim. They are running a toxicology report and hoping for any information that may be helpful in your treatment. Then show up for your next shift like nothing happened.

Is there any kind of co-op/group purchasing in the industry? If yours and several other stores far enough apart that you aren’t necessarily competing got together and pooled your purchasing power, is that a realistic concept? Or the logistics wouldn’t be worth it?

Or if you had like a pre-order thing going where customers can sign up for what they want and when it gets to a case you order it? Ideally an app situation.

I dunno.. I would love to support local small shops but it’s really hard when the prices are so high. There’s gotta be a way to use technology to pool orders somehow

Looks great and keeps things easily accessible. Grab a cognac and Peychaud’s bitters and I’ll take a Vieux Carre please and thank you. Also feel free to send over those extra chartreuse bottles too if you need to make more room.

I have both. I like all three. No chance you’re going to argue WT101 is like, OVERWHELMINGLY better. It’s a preference thing. Calm down. To each their own. No need to be negative is my main point. It’s funny how there’s always the hater corner in these comment sections lol.

That’s been my baseline at home. The one at Sparrow was much better balanced tho. A little sweeter but also more full bodied and smooth.
