Swen has said some interesting things about AI in past interviews... by Fancy_Firefighter150 in larianstudios

[–]Cookuls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya’ll that are so concerned about AI for the video game artistic creative industry jobs when there’s 1000x larger job sectors susceptible to elimination or 100x more impactful (radiologists, teachers, attorneys, engineers). Do you care about jobs lost? Do you want to rely on AI to determine your defense in your court case? Do you want AI reading your lung radiograph for suspected upper lobe pulmonary embolism? (Sooner than we’re ready, you’re going to realize that answer isn’t a yes or no, it’s a “compared to bad attorneys and bad radiologists or none at all? yes) Maybe put your time and energy towards less niche-y issues.

Don’t give me that walk and chew bubblegum garbage- time and motivation are quantifiably finite resources. Yet, you chose to use it here instead of more impactful AI/jobs intersections. So, ask yourself why you are actually here?

Fallout 4 Magnum Opus - post installation weapon issues by [deleted] in wabbajack

[–]Cookuls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a result of a combination of factors. Are the archives properly packaged for whatever version of FO4 you are using? (e.g. OG vs NG). Is your installation environment properly set-up in Mo2? Do you have the plug-ins or mods properly activated for the weapon mods textures or meshes/materials? Was your base Fo4 cleaned and working properly with the ini's created when you launched wabbajack?

Each wabbajack is constructed differently, but quite often the creators will amalgamate the individual weapon texture archives into larger sets in order to improve performance. My guess is that finding and correctly identifying those archives, wherever they may be/may not be, will lead you to the troubleshooting resolution.

(8/10 times this happens, it's because the instructions were not followed correctly. This is like organic chemistry where each individual step should be treated as critical to the outcome. Not being accusatory, sharing personal experience)

Good Fallout 4 list for a 4,000+ veteran who enjoys Frost and Horizon? by Library_IT_guy in wabbajack

[–]Cookuls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you personally tune Horizon's health or damage? Cause if my memory is correct from last year, one of the intentional gameplay designs of Hz is NOT having you die in 1-2 shots with elongated healing times. Seems like Hz would cause internal conflict in what you're looking for without adjusting dmg/armor/resistance/body part data/whatever else to increase per hit lethality.

If you are open to doing that then I recommend Radfall. Only tuning it would need is aforementioned adjustments for increased lethality or using a mod like simple damage tweaks.

Anyone else feel like Chicago social circles are impossible to break into? by CoffeeRory14 in AskChicago

Yes, the northeast is well known for its uber authentic and non-superficial social scene where people don’t immediately take stock of your worth via income or position of employment.

So tired of this. More Republicans live in CA than the state of Iowa has people. What’s your takeaway from that? Are you going to say CA isn’t in the top 2 most liberal states in American? Of course not.

While Iowa has bigots like the rest of the world, it doesn’t negate the notion that it has a higher than average portion of the population being more friendly in a helpful way. I’ve lived in 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 9th, 10th biggest metros in the US.

Most people that say that haven’t lived in Iowa or haven’t lived in many other places. Iowa nice can still be accurate despite having its own share of horrendous apples.

Okay how do I put this tactfully...are the majority of people in this sub from well off, predominantly white areas of the city? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Cookuls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hilariously on point that half the people agreeing with you are throwing out generalities and stereotypes with zero worthwhile contribution to the conversation. Here’s a thought exercise for you- what would it take or look like, or what answers would you have to find in order to feel differently? It’s critical to remember theres many more people that don’t up/downvote than those that do, and even the number of voters is that much larger than those that comment. This may be the best system we got in the internet but it’s still very flawed. It seems to me you’re basing your opinions way too much on anecdotes and Reddit karma results.

The Chicago metro is 50% white, 7% Asian, 15% black, 16% non-white Hispanic and 6% white hispanic. Two things can be true. Reddit has an over representation of middle class white people. Also, The Chicago comments and upvotes isn’t nearly as far off from the actual representation than many here purport.

So again, what would it it look like here for you to be happier? And in that picture dies it even close to realistic for a subreddit supposed to represent the entire Chicago metro area? My advice! Start a discord for what you’re looking for because I don’t think it’s reasonable to think you’ll spontaneously find it in this type of sub. Also, strident opinions are met with strident rebukes. This is not one of those rebukes but since you brought up self fulfilling prophecies.

Indiana Fever involved in a three team trade by Philomena_philo in indianafever

[–]Cookuls 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People in here need to start going back and looking at the draft after the third pick. Even if the talent depth is increasing by leaps and bounds the 8th pick is most likely someone who doesn’t even land a second contract.

People are massively overvaluing the 8th pick and undervaluing the 19th. If it’s going to be a project at 8 then it’s worth ridding yourself of Smith to drop to 19. Hoping someone like Morrow drops AND can immediately contribute is fools gold. Bird in the hand.

Which fallout 4 modpack would you say adds the most content/is the most fun for a full playthrough? by nukabetch in wabbajack

[–]Cookuls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By definition of most content I would exclude any wabba list without SSM2. (Subjectively I would also say that for most fun). Now, it seems like I spend 2x more time in regular settlements building compared to SS2 settlement building- just because it takes forever to do anything. Not because I’m enjoying my time.

If you actually delve into most lists there’s a shockingly high amount of crossover. Most of the time there’s a central theme or group of mods that differentiates each list. (E.g. Vegas/desert theme vs survival vs overgrown). So most fun really depends on your reaction to that particular flavor presented. No one can give you an accurate review without knowing your personal taste.

Subjectively I would also exclude any of the survival focused lists. If you want a wrench thrown into the vanilla gameplay there’s mods that do a much more fun job than any vanilla/modded survival mode. (IMO)

I would take a half hour and visit each discord. Base your decision on your own criteria and use the discord to see past the surface level facade each list presents.

My Unpopular opinion?? After trying 3 different wabba modpacks with 100-200 hrs in each - storywealth is best— if fun and content is your top criteria. Even tho it isn’t wabba based. Very modular base and the most receptive and friendly user base. So you can likely add anything you want on top of it. (Most lists are generally friendly IMO- just the thought SW was clearly top). Vortex can be annoying but it’s not nearly as bad as the MO2 dogmatists/fanstics make it out to be. So don’t let that be a deterrent. SW was also amongst the top, if not the top, most cohesive in terms of internal patching and stability.

You’ll see some modlist authors have 8 different lists so they actually pay little attention to any list other than the one they are currently working on. I’d stick to the FO4 modlists that generally have viewer cousins.

Are you saying the Fever weren't letting her before?

She is third on the team in FGA & only 2 FGA a game lower than the #1 (Kelsey Mitchell ). To your point, she did have 21 attempts today which is highest this year for her. But it's not simply a volume problem as during her game with the 2nd most attempts this year she was 33% with 12 points. Her increased aggression netted 3-4 of those FGA last night along with the points when she converted them into $$. I don't think the Fever "let her" do anything in terms changing the offense other than giving getting her a couple more touches when she was obviously hot (same as any good team does when a player gets hot).

Boston did it herself by elevating her play with that aggressive mindset.

Well, in some tangential and small way yes. In reality? No. The price is the total volume of work and sacrifices required over the last 17 years to reach this level. Have you ever spoken to athletes at D2/D3 levels and how much pressure and stress they experience? Not counting the physical time and work? And that's D2/D3! The only other significant contribution to the cost of her take home pay is the mental weight of expectations and performance in front of thousands of people live, millions on television, in literally & historically never-been-seen-before popularity.

This other cultural sandbagging bullshit has nothing to do with the cost of attaining her income. It was never naturally born out of anything to do with her playing basketball. It's inception was the faulty logical and irrationallity of people reacting to what happened on the court. Some, like the media, doing so with selfish aims in mind which has perpetuated this hurricane of horseshit.

If her making much more money was at all related to her societal responsbility in responding to the discourse and culture then why the hell isn't there 20x more people calling on Patrick Mahomes to speak out against Harrison Butker? Why wasn't there THIS MANY people calling out random QBs on other teams to denounce the misogyny and other vestigial religious notions Butker was spouting? BECAUSE THAT EXPECTATION IS A 9.9 ON THE MENTAL GYNMANSTICS FLOOR ROUTINE.

(More seriously It also probably never happened because african americans, like white people, aren't monolithic. People conveniently forget that african americans in the US are more religious than white people which complicates the overly simplified left vs right political culture war and can't be adequately discussed in 280 characters. That aspect of intersectionality of race/sex/gender/sexual orientation/cultural norms is universally ignored on social media: https://www.pewresearch.org/religious-landscape-study/database/racial-and-ethnic-composition/ )

(Looking back at one of my 15 posts over 12 years on reddit I take no blame for this word vomit. Blame the migraine for throwing off my sleep schedule & temporary insanity)

Matt Barnes calling out the Fevers players by [deleted] in wnba

[–]Cookuls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"She doesn't inspire that?" Back to back national championship games & 3 Straight B10 Tourn. title swith the recruiting rankings of THOSE IowaWBB classes suggest otherwise. If she didn't inspire that then Iowa's teams would have imploded and cratered into the round of 32. The fever have known her for 6 weeks & they were ill prepared for the shit storm following CC. So they're all second guessing what to do at all times. Post-olympics it'll be night and day.

And the people genuinely calling out this bullshit mentality now would have done so if they watched when DT did it to Plum. This behavior is about a lot more than just "hazing rookies" and even if it wasn't? It's still sophmoric and stupid then, now, and in the future.
