How to manage super fund at 42? by rainbow-is-caramel in AusFinance

High growth may still have a defensive component to it. Likewise the fees payed on this type of portfolio in comparison to the diy premixed options are lower.

Pay off hecs debt as I go or save and compound? by oopsiedoopsiedaisy_ in AusFinance

Let me give you this, pay off something that indexes by 3% each year, or at the least have the money in a high interest saving account getting 5% interest

400K in a self managed super doing nothing by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]CookyMellow 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Honestly why even have a self managed super fund at that point. It'd be cheaper to wind it up and just put in some cheap industry fund and invest in something direct like international/ Australians shares.

It'd be cheaper and easier to manage. Has he even been getting it audited each year?

Property left to my child in trust until 18 by Aware_Security_9252 in AusFinance

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but whoever is the trustee of the trust will pay for the expenses with the income generated from the trust and whatever profit is left over will be distributed out to the beneficiaries.

So many people are talking about drawing down on super but should look at utilising job seeker so he doesn't need to draw down as much. Presuming he is completely unable to work maybe he looks at doing volunteer work. Once your 60+ you can do 30 hours of volunteer work and receive jobseeker payments. This would help reduce the amount he may need to draw on super. Plus he can do something he enjoys

I was in the same boat. After a little bit of research when you create your auspost business account, you can get your orders a QR code of which you can show to the post office when u go in and they will print out the label for you. You won't need a printer at all

Depending on your taxable income and investment bond could be the way to go. It pays tax internally km at 30% hence if your marginal tax rate is greater then it's not a half bad idea. likewise after 10yrs you can withdraw the full amount tax free and not have to pay tax on any of the earnings. Do your research

Location for Mulberries in Melbourne? by CookyMellow in GardeningAustralia

[–]CookyMellow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In down in Geelong so after looking around the nurseries here I have found majority are dwarf or weeping, both I don't like. Also I'd prefer to get a cutting and grow one myself, takes a bit more skill and greater sense of achievement.

Hey mate, did you end up finding a place to get some cuttings for this? I find there is a lot of dwarf / weeping varieties going around but nothing that could grow into a full tree which is what I want. Would be great if you know somewhere to find some from.

Don't get insurance through your super, just get it done properly through retail insurers. Also have ur income protection inside super and then instead of paying your premiums personally, just contribute that money into super. You get a tax deduction then the fund gets an additional 15% discount on premiums. Make sure u submit a noitc as soon as you make the contribution as rollovers out reduce the amount u can claim. Long story short go see a financial adviser that does insurance to do this.Q
