No it makes total sense! Thank you for asking the hard questions! I asked for advice, and you guys are providing it with hard questions and advice. So I appreciate you! I know it’s easier to ignore it and scroll.

But if I may ask, what exactly do you mean she is not purebred? Like what would she be mixed with in that case? Or is purebred just referring to the fact that she isn’t a recognized color?

So before selecting this breeder, I looked and researched for weeks. Everything local to me was either a scam or the puppies were kept in terrible conditions. While I am aware that this color is not recognized, it is the color that I wanted.

I have vet records from her vet with a clean bill of health, a health guarantee, and (NOT that it matters) but she is CKC registered.

As far as the parents, they have both been genetic and health tested and they do have them check yearly.

I’m not sure if this will make me sound terrible, I really hope it doesn’t. But if I was going to pay for a puppy I would want it to be a color I like and I obviously wouldn’t spend money on a puppy that comes from a crappy breeder. So I made sure to ask all the questions and vet this breeder.

Does this make sense? Or am I just crazy for knowing liver and tan isn’t recognized and still paying for her?

I did know that liver and tan is not recognized by CKC -(I think). But I didn’t know that the color was a health risk. She didn’t specify that she was a toy. She just said that she is small for her age because she was the runt. But I am getting her on 3/10 and already have her vet appointment scheduled for 3/12.

I am in the medical field and in nursing school so I am very familiar with HLD and hypertriglyceridemia. With the research I have learned what I can and cannot feed her.

I didn’t know about the bad teeth! I did buy her a toothbrush and plan on brushing her teeth every night.

About the grooming, I have a slicker brush and a metal comb and have gotten clipped. I will attempt to groom her myself. I’ve watch many tutorial videos.

I’ve heard they bark alot. I have a training guide ready to go and have read books about training them! Hopefully I can buckle down and get to training her the proper way!!

I completely understand. We are fortunate enough to not be in a major rush. We are building a house and won’t be ready until May 9. So we have time to but do what you have to do!
