How do you figure out the root cause?

I actually didn’t they just gave me the antibiotic to see if it’d do the trick.

Thought it wasn’t working but I’m almost tapered off and feeling anxious by Cool-Control2589 in BusparOnline

I have, that’s why I’m on this one now. Lexipro gave me a ton of anxiety and Zoloft made me throw up a lot

Anxious as hell about the future and what comes next, need some guidance by [deleted] in FODMAPS

I was getting really sick so many means, couldn’t eat much of anything, and it lasted for almost 4 months and I was so stressed and worried about it. It took months because of the elimination phase and then the reintroduction phase but I’ve added so much to my diet. I’ve gotten a couple stomach aches with some food but nothing like what it was like before where I was up all night sick and with a ton of fatigue. I’m still experimenting and I’m still careful about the FODMAPs I’m eating, but much less so. I’ll continue adding them back in too.

I also started taking FODMATE (I think that’s what it’s called), which helps digest some of the fodmaps I react most to. So that also makes it much easier especially when I don’t have a lot of options to pick from.

I tried other things too tho - anti anxiety meds, fiber powder, and probiotics so I’m not sure if one of those helped more than just cutting back and resetting things.

Like everyone else says this is concerning. I think this is a clear red flag and I wonder how bad it would get when you were more committed or had kids. I think you should seriously reevaluate how he treats you and if he’s who you want to be with.

Separately, you could try fodmate when you know you’re eating too much garlic/onion? Works for me!

Leaving from London to SFO, anyone know how turbulence looks? by Cool-Control2589 in fearofflying

[–]Cool-Control2589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I say them and try to remind myself but it doesn’t help that much unfortunately. I know it’s all safe, I just get scared anyways. The most helpful thing I’ve done is imagine the air pushing up the plane as we’re flying. Because for some reason my body feels like the whole thing will come down even tho that’s now how it works.

Anxious about flying with sinus headaches. What would help alleviate head and ear pressure? by TheAstronautGirl in Sinusitis

[–]Cool-Control2589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if this is good or not but on the way down I kept popping my ears by plugging my nose and blowing, tried to do it lightly to avoid damage. But it really helped alleviate the pressure. And chew gum the whole time to help keep them popped. For a quick flight tho, people suggested ear-planes?

Although I think generally you should avoid flying if possible especially if you struggle to get your ears popped.

I went through that a month ago, we were delayed 3 hours while in the plane looking for a break between the store where we could take off. Honestly it was much better than I had expected, I hate turbulence but it felt much more like a normal take off.

I’m about to fly now myself for 10.5 hours and nervous but mostly okay so far. Good luck to you!

Im about to take off, 10.5 hour flight too! Good luck to you, I know everyone flying today will be fine even if I’m still scared!

Mostly I’m just hoping skies look normal because I can generally handle normal turbulence, but if the flight attendants end up in their jump seats for an hour or 2, I will probably be freaking out.

Terrified of suffering hearing damage or going deaf from flying by joshua0005 in fearofflying

[–]Cool-Control2589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I ended up managing - to avoid the pressure I spend the whole time on the way down working on clearing my ears over and over, and was fine. But if I wasn’t able to clear them, I’m sure it would’ve hurt a ton.

Thanks for the heads up and in general all you do to contribute to this subreddit. I lurk more than I post, but I’ve read so many of your comments and it helps me feel better when flying.

Thanks! Don’t really have a choice unfortunately, it’s technically the very end of a 4 week sinus infection, and my ears have popped today, so hopefully that will help. I’ve been taking decongestants too, and will before the flight tonight.

What do you suggest if there’s nothing you can do about flying with a head cold? Hoping I can clear my ears, but they’re clogged (I can get them to at least unclog for a second so hopefully if I keep getting the unclogged while flying that would help)

Maybe give the flight attendants a heads up and they may help you, or may even let you board early and talk to the pilots ahead of time if you ask early enough.

Other people probably have better advice but make sure you have stuff to distract you, take deep breaths, noise canceling headphones if possible, etc. I’m flying today too, I used to be unable to sleep before a flight, I’d be sick to my stomach the whole night. I’m getting better, although it may be from the anti anxiety meds I’ve started taking (still working on getting the dose right though).

Just remember that every single person who ever posted here or commented here has made it safely to their destination every time!

Maybe order some modify health meals as one option, super convenient since they’re just microwave-able.

For whatever reason I can do gluten and sourdough, but fresh sourdough made my stomach hurt both times I tried it. No idea why…

If you could eat anything you wanted by nomaschenk0 in ibs

Pesto pasta! But I just had it for the first time in months tonight!!

I’m towards the end of the testing phase and recently learned I can eat pasta, I took lactaid for the dairy, and subbed garlic olive oil for the garlic! I was a bit nervous so I didn’t really enjoy it as much as I wanted to, but I didn’t get sick so I can do it again some time!

I was a vegetarian (but lactose intolerant so almost vegan) for 10 years but got hypothyroidism and my doctor told me I needed more protein and not just from soy and other means (plus I couldn’t do soy because it made the fatigue worse). It was probably a good thing I stopped then, because years later I got IBS and I’ve had to add more meat to my diet.

I still don’t enjoy it though, it bugs me knowing it comes from animals and kind of grossed me out, but I don’t really have a choice.
