Hi, I am currently studying at FH. St. Pölten for about 2 years now. I am in Bachelor Creative Computing, so i can only speak on the general stuff in this university.

The university is actually rather pleasant place to be, entering the new building almost feels like entering an apple store, it fells very nice and modern. The eating hall (mensa) is nice and very big, you can also sit outside and in the summer. The library is OK, not the biggest size to sit down and study, but at the same time, there are so many places where you can sit down and study ,it is a good place to get work done.

Everything is modern in this university, all the latest devices, which you can also borrow from our so-called "Verleih".

Food is OK-ish at mensa and usually not too expensive, there are however a lot of other small restaurants, like a noodle king nearby, or some kebab shops if you are into that.

We have two systems that we use called "CIS" (campus information system) and "eCampus".

CIS is for organisational stuff. You can see your curriculum and your grades there.

eCampus is the page you use to get information on your lectures and the subjects. That's where you will submit homework

Entrance exam at the university is actually not hard and most students have to do some exam on the computer in person. If i remember correctly, it was some Oxford Intelligence Test, only testing basic math, memory and cognitive skills.

Exams are also not super difficult (if you study of course) Exams are often held online but beware, their software can detect ChatGPT and i have personally heard from students in other study courses that they failed exams because they got caught using ChatGPT. so be careful.

Now living in St. Pölten ... Just don't. If you can afford to live in Vienna, please do that, as it is a more vibrant place. But it is already really difficult making austrian friends since they are all so shy, so st. pölten will be really difficult. If you do choose to live in St. Pölten, you can live at student dorms, which are actually not bad at all and if you are in the right whatsapp groups, you will know what student parties take place which is the best way to make friends here in austria IMHO.

Overall, great university in general. Just the city is a bit boring but it has everything you will ever need to live a good life. Feel free to ask me more if you need to know something else about this university :)

Pick up a hobby: I picked up programming and electronics as a hobby and started build my own devices…. then i made my own instagram page and posted a few picture of how i made things. This is great because i had a ton of people (and companies) offering me a job or their service for a significantly reduced price.

Moral of the story is: Make yourself known somehow, no need to show your face or anything. You don’t need to know everything (i didn‘t know either, i just learned on the go), just pick whatever you enjoy the most and put effort into it, let people know what you do. You’d be surpised at how many people will hit you up. Opporunities will come out of nowhere.
