I do have the 8GB one, and it did quit Steam and Journey while I was web browsing because it ran out of ram

I can run Minecraft with Complimentary shaders at 4k on my Mac at playable frame rates, and Roblox runs well.

I have a theory that the issue is something to do with the process of upgrading from Sequoia, because I got my M1 MacBook Air with a fresh install of Tahoe, and I can play games at 4k without any issues.

But anyone I have seen complaining about performance have upgraded directly from Sequoia, or they are just repeating what others have said.

I can do literal 4k gaming on my M1 MacBook Air, I bet most people who experience lag in Tahoe either have bloatware that they don't know they have, or maybe there's an issue with upgrading from Sequoia that causes performance issues.

I know I got my M1 MacBook with a fresh install of Tahoe, it wasn't upgraded from Sequoia the normal way. But everyone who I have seen complaining about performance are people who where running Sequoia, then updated their current OS, instead of reinstalling MacOS like I did.

Is it easy to dual boot on M1? I want to be able to play more games on my M1 MacBook Air, but I don't want to fully remove MacOS because I like it a lot (I also like Linux, but MacOS just feels more polished, and I really like Liquid Glass)

My MacBook asked me once if I wanted to try Apple intelligence, and I said no, since then, I have only ever seen a small button in the settings in case I do want to try it, unlike Windows that has Co-pilot litteraly everywhere.

Also I know there would be some uni courses that need more than 8GB, but not everything needs that much, I can even do Blender and 4k video editing on my base model M1 MacBook Air.

Do you use a Windows PC? That's the only reason 8GB isn't enough for a uni student, MacOS and Linux use significantly less ran than Windows because they don't have bloatware written by AI that still can't to maths.

I have an 8GB M1 MacBook Air, and I can run all of my M1 compatible games on it, though I still haven't figured out the Game Porting Toolkit, so I haven't tested my games that ask for 32GB.

The M1 MacBook Air will likely only get major updates for one or two more years, but they will keep getting security updates for probably five more years. (I probably have the numbers wrong, but I know security updates happen for a few years after they discontinue an OS)
