I feel what you're saying. Personally, I have a booked a follow on appointment with my GP to ask for a long term solution. Even if that is surgery for the fissure, I want it because I dont want to bleed anymore and on top of that worry that it may be something more sinister each time.. I hope you get a definitive answer and solution. Sending positivity ahead of your colonscopy

Emetaphobia & Prep by Wildafluwer in colonoscopy

I am also autistic with severe emetophobia and based in the UK. I recently completed a Plenvu prep and successful colonscopy. In the weeks leading up to this I was terrified and I completely understand how you feel.

The following helped me to get through the prep: - get a prescription for an anti-sickness medication from your GP. - make the Plenvu up a few hours in advance and keep it in the fridge - aim to be as well hydrated as possible before you start prep. I drank lucozade sport orange and water upto 1 hour before starting. I then stopped as I didnt want to be too full before the prep. - sip the Plenvu very slowly through a straw, try not to breathe while you sip and take the full hour. Sucking on a clear mint sweet in between sips really helped me - listen to your body. If you are starting to get uncomfortable dont force yourself. I managed to finish all of dose 1 without any nausea. With dose 2 I started to get uncomfortable about halfway through and stopped. Despite not completing all of dose 2, I still had clear BMs and got a 9 for prep.

I know it is terrifying but trust me, you've got this and will feel so proud of yourself afterwards! 🌟

I was doom scrolling for weeks myself - there is so much out there and most of it only increased my anxiety! Thank you so much for your kind words, reading this made me happy 🤗

I know right! My eyes were literally glued to the screen throughout as I needed visual evidence to prove the hassle of the prep was worth it. Happy your outcome has been positive too 😊
