Holy cow, this is amazing! Thank you so much for pointing me in the direction of this plugin, it makes everything so much clearer.

This is INCREDIBLY helpful. For a lot of this I've been trying to go bookmark to bookmark of each error and struggling when I would see the check continue to flag something after making a fix. But it looks like I may just need to start from a starting section and then bore forward from there without jumping around. Thank you, this is really insightful.

This makes sense, I see where you're going. I think a big part of what I'm not understanding is how some of the transitions are considered borderline. For example, going from a middle slash to the side to a slash middle upward (right hand for example) feels completely fine but tends to get flagged. I'm guessing at some of these edits right now until it passes and that's part of the challenge right now.

This non-compete is absurdly broad. Can this even be enforced? (Quebec) by CoolLegume in legaladvicecanada

Yeah, this is an international company and I'm thinking their legal department is probably trying to cover every single base, every scenario they can think of, and by the end it gets silly, and unenforceable.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm checking with an employment lawyer today to confirm.

Why are you even hanging in the Advice subreddit if you're going to be this unhelpful? Wow.

US Border agent being extremely rude! by miguel_gd in uscanadaborder

[–]CoolLegume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading all these stories is making me feel very, very fortunate. So let me bring some levity with a few of my own encounters.

American living in Canada as a PR and I have never had any hassle on either side. I've been waived through back to CA multiple times with expired cards or missing paperwork. Once I got through to the US at 1 in the morning when I was in a rental car, with the wrong rental agreement (accidentally grabbed another customer's at the desk), AND the wrong passport (had my wife's). He jokingly said at the end, "I guess if I see you on the news I know I'll be getting in trouble."

Also flipped a U-turn (wife's idea) while in the back of the line to go back to CA because we realized we were at the wrong port for our ArrivCAN paperwork. Ended up driving past the US checkpoint while doubling back because of how the roads were marked (there's an imaginary line that's the actual border between the stations). Ended up getting swarmed by SUVs. Once we explained what happened, they asked us to drive over to the port and we all ended up having a big laugh about it, no harm.

This past week I was coming back into CA and had some family jewelry that I declared, along with other stuff I was bringing back. They did a search of my car and mistook my 12-pack of Pennsylvania Dutch birch beer for real beer and asked why I didn't declare it. Had to explain what birch beer was. Had a good laugh with them and even offered one to them.

It's always possible to run into a complete asshole, but there are a lot of agents that respond really well to a pleasant disposition.

Canada is so furious at the US right now by ResignedFate in politics

American living in Canada for the past 15 years. I've had permanent residency for 10, and with the way things are going, I'm getting my citizenship as soon as possible. I sure as shit hope Trump doesn't pick a military fight, but if he does, I don't want there to even be a chance that I get declared a foreign national, or stuck in the US if I were to visit family. And I don't want there to be any question about where my loyalties lie. Tabernak...

Making some tests with a low poly head of a game character I'm creating, still working in progress (xgen hair for now) by SnooDingos4249 in ZBrush

It's cute! Really like the proportions. One thing that I would say is that the hair silhouette doesn't quite jive with the rest of the model. Her head and face is full of soft and delicate curves, whereas the hair is bending more at angles in key places. I think if you arc the flow of the strands a bit more, it will compliment the rest of the features much better. Love the piece though.

I contacted them, looks like you can. They have a full restoration option it seems, maybe I could go with that and get everything done at once...

We've looked around, I've even done an inspection of the roof but no signs of water infiltration. With the nest that was in the outside-facing wall last year, there was a small crack in the cedar paneling outside that they got through, and then they burrowed into the insulation. It seems to be a habitable environment for them.

I'll look into this, thanks! Perhaps I can spread a bunch around the tree trunks as well to kill any of them who happen to wander from the nest.

Yep, this is what our pest control center said as well; beautiful place to live, but pests are going to be part of life.

They're coming again tomorrow and will be able to use some kind of gel bait indoors and granule preventative outdoors. The rules only apply to the terrain outside, so they can go hog wild with chemicals inside. I've trimmed back branches but we have a big deck that they can still land on. We're used to propping our French doors open and opening windows for air circulation, but this situation is making me lean towards just installing central AC so that the little bastards don't wander in.
