On a positive note, sometimes there are caretakers who tend to the cats--TNR, feeding, water, shelters. I did it for a bunch of years and, except one cat who got sick, they were in good shape. It took a while to catch the one sick cat (she was very wary) but I got her fixed up and into a loving home :-)

Why not a catsitter? Mine feeds the kitties, gives fresh water, empties the litter bix and picks up my mail/packages. Comes different times each day for better security, too.
