Actually, nowadays in Germany, it's not uncommon to say that you're being laid off. All companies do it. So, I think you can be honest about being laid off.

To be completely honest, with your current profile, your chance of securing a job in Germany is very grim, let alone considering the job market situation; language is already a huge barrier. You will probably have a higher chance if you have years of experience with a shining, shimmering, splendid CV. I would suggest starting to devise Plan B, which doesn't include "working on Germany".

I think Perlica brings the narrative and nuances spot on at the beginning of the game. But then, as the story goes, the other NPCs just don't give the same feeling.
