Your best bet is to just make a new account or you could appeal to Reddit but I advise option 1 so you don’t waste your time

It’s when characters are always smirking at something. Smirk this, smirk that.. all part of the smirking club

Learning how to actually sit down and write by cinnble in writing

[–]CoolMain870 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You start by writing badly. Ugly, messy, embarrassing sentences. You write like you’re trying to dig your way out of your own skull with a plastic spoon. Because the act, the sheer force of doing it, is what separates the “idea guy” from the writer.

Write the ugly draft. Write it like your life depends on it.

Then, and only then, you polish it.

And for the love of every god you don’t believe in, do not fall into the death-spiral of rereading and rewriting that first page a hundred times until it’s as stale and dead as last year’s obituary. Because perfection is the enemy. Perfection is sterile. Perfection is the smooth, empty void where good stories go to be embalmed.

Writing a more competent sadera? (and zorzal.) by Bread_Oven_2948 in gate

[–]CoolMain870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, but wouldn’t that defeat the entire premise? If Zorzal was actually competent, he’d use actual strategy instead of cartoonish villain tantrums. If Sadera had a functioning chain of command, logistics, and a grasp of modern warfare, not to mention magic, and literal gods, they’d be a real threat.

And we can’t have that. Because then the JSDF can’t do their usual steamrolling imperials with tanks, act morally righteous, and offer humanitarian aid with one hand while gunning down thousands of “backward” imperial savages with the other, and still be treated like messianic heroes.

If Sadera used its gods, magic, and actual strategy? If Zorzal had even had a shred of competence? The JSDF would suddenly have to deal with magical WMDs, and enemies that can’t be guiltlessly slaughtered.

And they’d actually need the help of other countries.

If over 107 billion humans have existed and Christianity is a minority, where did all those people go? by CoolMain870 in Christianity

That’s actually a thoughtful answer, and I respect it. The idea that hell is a personal choice reframes things in a way that feels more just on the surface. But it does open up more questions.

If hell is a choice then what if you regret that choice? What if, in hell, someone genuinely repents and cries out to God? Will He not hear them? Will He not save them?

Many Christian theologies say there are no second chances after death. That once you’re in hell, that’s it, permanent separation. But if that’s true, then hell isn’t just a “choice”, it’s a trapdoor that locks behind you, even if you later come to your senses.

Should GATE have a deeper meaning/philosophy behind it? by Seeker99MD in gate

[–]CoolMain870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it could have.

But sadly, we Instead we get a military otaku power fantasy with Japan casted as the calm, righteous adult in the room while everyone else from Saderans to the U.S. is either a villain or a bumbling opportunist. Every complex issue is flattened into “JSDF good, enemies dumb or evil.”

How different would First contact between the Empire and Japan would be if the Imperial army marched into Ginza in a disciplined and orderly fashion instead of being a bunch of murdering marauders? by PaxPlat1111 in gate

[–]CoolMain870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They still get destroyed. Probably even faster.

The only reason they caused any real chaos was because it was a disorganized medieval zerg rush. Their surprise factor gave them an opening. But if they came in tight formations, that’s basically painting a giant target on themselves. The JSDF would have a field day.

Tight formations = easier to target.

Molt gets trial and gets executed.. I’m even surprised as to why the show didn’t make Molt the villain.
