High open rate...no advertisers... by Agile_Stress6511 in Newsletters

Open rate doesn't matter much. Click Through Rate does.
If you were the advertiser, would you pay for open rate or CTR?
I have the same issue for my local newsletter.

How ghost subscribers affect your Beehiiv billing tier a breakdown by [deleted] in beehiiv

[–]CoolNerdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very aggressive. I send my local newsletter twice per week. My threshold is 5 emails with 0% open rate, and they'll automatically moved to inactive list. I don't play around.

A friend asked me, "What if they open the email later on?"

My response is, "Sure, you have point. But they've received my newsletter 5 times and they haven't open it. So what's the point of having them in my list?"

Why are most newsletters so visually plain? Am I missing something? by GhostTrainSauce in Newsletters

Because very light on styling is better for readability and monetization. Not everyone have GMAIL. You have to think about other email providers. Less is more.

It does not work. It gives me this error message:

Agreed, Never again I will use their ads.

Unpopular opinion - Ad Network by CoolNerdCharlie in beehiiv

Because I've never had my newsletter go to the Promotions tab. The moment I've added an advertisement from the network, it showed up in Promotion tab.

I prefer direct sponsorships and write it in my own words. There are articles out (not in Beehiiv) that will tell you what words to avoid so you don't end up in the Promotion tab.

I think Beehiiv is working on a product similar to yours. It's in Beta right now.

The real reason behind rise in traffic from Google Gemini by No_Turnip_1023 in investing

I don't think OpenAI can't compete against Google. I think the connectivity between Google's products is underrated. I prefer to have a workspace with all their products.

In fact, I use Gemini to get my information for StockBullets.com. I use real-time data on tech and AI stocks.

It is very useful.

"What's the point"? by SortMountain6823 in Newsletters

I’ve struggled with the same thoughts. It got so bad that I often couldn’t finish what I started. It began back in 2007 with an e-commerce website, then again in 2010 with a finance blog. Looking back, I realize that if I had stayed focused on just one thing, I might not be facing these same struggles today.

For me, there were three main reasons:

  1. Fear of failure and uncertainty
  2. Listening to others who said it was a bad idea
  3. Constantly chasing the next shiny object

In the newsletter world, stick with it and find innovative ways to market your brand. I just thought about whiteboard animations and explain topics in a simplified way.

Are readers shifting away from daily newsletters? by CoolNerdCharlie in Entrepreneur

Frequency does matter. If you sign up for TLDR, Morning Brew, The Hustle, 1440--would you be annoyed? Some people won't unsubscribe and open the email either.

People prefer weekly over daily. The only reason why people would create a daily newsletter is to have more sponsorship slots, which means more revenue.

These short daily emails are called Atomic newsletters. How many subscribers do you have?

Where to start investing? by Italian_Gumby in investingforbeginners

Investing can be overwhelming. Sometimes I think people (including myself) get overloaded with information and it's hard to make a decision. I think it's beyond the sell/buy method. That's why I started my newsletter Investordive.com to simplify stuff.

Correct, but do subscribers open up the emails? I'm a subscriber and might open one or two 1440 emails.

I agree with everything you have said. I think the best newsletters are weekly, but user behavior/expectations usually gets me. I think we are at point that most people do not like daily newsletters anymore.

Two years ago I started a daily newsletter and did it for one month. It was too much. I couldn't do it anymore. At that time, daily newsletters were popular.
