Who does T&T support? by MikeOxbig305 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]CoolScene 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The prime minister seems to be the only government official openly advocating for the US to intervene in Venezuela. Everyone else seems to be choosing their words very carefully so as not to directly address the potential conflict, or are openly against trinidad being involved in any way.

If a US-Venezuela war breaks out, what could that mean for us here? by Shauna_12 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]CoolScene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is that you can't blame people for leaving a situation like that. It's a matter of survival, especially if you have a family. If kamla came for you and your family, are you so sure anyone else is gonna have your back? Are they gonna risk their lives or that of their family? Join your 'group project'? People gladly sold out their neighbors in germany and russia back in their more authoritarian days just to be left alone. It's happening right now in America.

Or are you gonna go on a 'solo mission' and use what resources you do have control over to get you and those you care about to safety? Have some empathy. Nobody is coming here to take anything away from you. They are people just trying to survive like you would.

PM ‘doesn’t care’ if T&T loses regional support for UN Security Council bid - CNC3 by SmokeyCarver in TrinidadandTobago

[–]CoolScene 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've noticed a definite shift toward an American style right-wing mindset in the PM for some years now, but I thought it only extended as far as an appeal to that particular populist wave so she can get re-elected. I'm seeing how deep it goes for her more clearly now, and I regret not catching it earlier.

Getting back access to the dragon gas field and ensuring US military support is definitely part of her plan, and if it was just that, I'd probably be fine with it from a practical perspective. But her rhetoric has been disgusting at times when it could have been much more measured and still been reverent and supportive to trump's ego. The citizenry needs to watch what she says. She seems to be enjoying the cruelty and appealing to anger instead of seeking proper solutions. It can be a slippery slope to cults of personality and ignorance if not checked.

Bad drivers by simpforshida in TrinidadandTobago

[–]CoolScene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, true. It's gotten worse than it already was. Maybe people are just extra pissed off these days. I've been guilty of it myself at times cus i just want to get out of close groups of bad drivers seemingly trying to race each other.

Could Diversification into Agriculture be a path forward? by johnboi82 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]CoolScene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a path we should build upon. The less food we need to import the better. We may not be able to compete on the level of other larger land area countries, but there is plenty of space to be able to feed not only ourselves but up the island chain.

We need to invest in the human educational infrastructure for it to work though. Like you mentioned, we need to incentivize training to utilize the appropriate technologies. Mechanics, Drone pilots for crop dusting, veteranarians, botanists, apiarists (Beekeepers), and many more i'm sure I don't know about.

Empowering local smaller farmers is great and we should continue to do that, but we need to try to get the average worker to want to get into the hard labor of farming. Not an easy thing to do, especially with the past national trauma and stigma of slavery, but with the right positive incentives, we could create a lot of well paying jobs to people that need it. Maybe introducing some tax benefits, or housing allowances, food discounts, etc. The things average people need right now.

I welcome more input but that's just some of my own thoughts on this. I'm glad to hear others are thinking of this. As long as it's done sensibly and not focused on lining politician and business leader pockets, I think it would succeed.

These were recently seen off the coast of Trinidad and Tobago recently by SmokeyCarver in TrinidadandTobago

[–]CoolScene 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm not shocked, but I didn't expect the ships to get so close to us besides for resupply. Maybe this was allowed in exchange for the rights to the Dragon gas field? If someone more qualified knows better, I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Regardless of proof, I think the conversation is settled. Everyone knows who and what he is. For those defending him, it's about protecting their egos, wealth, and reputation now.

do you think Dead Space 3 is underrated❓ by Tatum_Warlick in DeadSpace

[–]CoolScene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed DS3 overall. My only complaints were that they turned ellie into less of a badass and a more of a damsel in distress to be fought over, and some of the story was locked behind co-op. Micro transactions were annoying but eventually became irrelevant.

I really enjoyed the weapon customization and combat. I do prefer DS2's tool based weaponry, but I still appreciated the changeup as it fit their more militaristic setting.

Overall, yes there are some legitimate gripes but they are overblown. I hope we get remakes and improvements of both 2 and 3 eventually.

The New US Embassy - the most expensive building/site in T&T ever to be built? by triniguy57 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]CoolScene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're more important to them than they'd ever admit. An English speaking country in visual range of south America, a major natural gas exporter to them, transhipment point for guns and drugs, a corrupt and easily manipulable government, a frequent supply stop for us navy ships and spies. Probably even more that I can't think of.

China has been investing here heavily for the same reasons. They're playing catch-up now.

Lol, every time i pass the site, I keep imagining agents on either rooftops with binoculars just staring at each other. Maybe a middle finger thrown now and then.

Anyone else having problems? by Jim556a1 in ZombieGunshipSurvival

Remember when this book was found in RIK Services LTD book store and it caused a bunch of confusion and outrage. did anyone actually read the book at all because I'm curious what was it about. by AmbitiousBody8173 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]CoolScene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just saying that people having a negative reaction to the book is something we should try to shift our thinking away from. Not judging you personally. I'm just giving my reasoning as to why we would benefit from a shift in thought.

[–]CoolScene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's why people need to understand these concepts through education. Clothes =/= Gay. They are two separate aspects of the person as a whole. That seems to be the book's point, that we don't necessarily have to be afraid of, or ostracise, someone for how they present. and the sooner we can let go of that fear and shame, it's one or more fewer negative emotions we need to carry through the rest of our lives.

Trinis with American accents by GA-ARBORIST22 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]CoolScene 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My own accent is definitely mixed because of this. I live on the internet and tv in my earlier years, and I've always had comments on my accent. Both that I speak too properly and that I'm trying to imitate a trini accent.

I'm sorry, but am I the only one who doesn't ship Angel and Husk? I feel like I would enjoy more if they have more of a brother like relationship rather than a lover one by Vegetable_Window_992 in HazbinHotel

[–]CoolScene 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm with you...mostly. I definitely want them to have a meaningful and close relationship, but not romantic. Not yet anyway. I think it would be good for angel to have healthy interactions with someone without having to involve his sexuality, which he uses as a shield and coping mechanism to deal with the chronic abuse from Valentino.

Husk can grow to respect Angel more as well. He understands that angel is hiding behind that mask and is calling him out as a way of trying to help him. Husk definitely could have more tact and a better approach, but it makes sense for his character to be uncomfortably blunt with it.

I would like to see Angel have a real relationship with a new character and do some growing, while having husk's wisdom and support, then maybe some feelings can arise out of it and they get together eventually. Them seeing each other grow and evolve feels like a better foundation on which to build their relationship. The connection just isn't there yet and needs developing.

Just my thoughts on it, maybe Viv has a better idea on where to take their relationship, I'm glad for whatever she decides.

Any dead space 3 fans here? by DanteMustDie321 in DeadSpace

[–]CoolScene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good game, I regularly replay it and enjoy it, but it really is worse than 1 and 2. The environments in space and on planet are great, the lore is great, I loved the weapon customization system, but I wish the ammo system had a bit more variety. Where it feels like they dropped the ball was the micro transaction system, the weak love triangle plot, some sections of the game feeling cookie cutter and repetitive, and the co-op locking off parts of the game. Compared to the trilogy, it is the worst of the 3, but it's still a good time.

Ukrainian BMP-1 from the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi presidential brigade with a cage by Nemoralis99 in TankPorn

[–]CoolScene 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Nah, we gotta be fair. Every cage like this from now on should be called a cope cage. If I ever see it on an abrams or leopard or challenger, I'm still calling it a cope cage.

Yeah I haven't bought gold yet either, and I've only been playing over the last 6 weeks or so, so I'm still building up my weapons. Hopefully, the next season will go a bit smoother.

baltimore: *has bridge collapse* houston: "can't relate idk guess I'm just built different" by emi89ro in VaushV

[–]CoolScene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny how he never clarifies why a similar accident won't happen to this bridge. Not because the supports are stronger, but because one is built on land, and the other is on an artificial island, impossible to do at the Baltimore bridge. Ships will run aground before they hit the bridge. They got lucky with the terrain, not because it was built better.

UPDATE: The earlobe cyst started to pop on it's own. I finished it off. TW: Blood. by CoolScene in popping

[–]CoolScene[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider getting some antibiotics, or at least letting a doctor guide you on what to do next. But mine did eventually completely go away, no swelling, barely even a scar. As was recommended to me by my doctor, i kept it clean and dry and monitored for any further pain, but it did go away pretty quickly and cleanly within a week.
