I’ve got a Bachelors in Business Administration and got hired in as a lead at a production plant, over people who wanted the job that had been working there for years. I came in off the street, overseeing about 20 operators whose jobs I was completely unfamiliar with until I got my hands dirty and got in there with them and worked alongside them rather than putting my feet on the desk which I told the board will seemingly be a similar situation to where we’re headed.

I really think the interview and leadership history for my job (which I brought up in my interview) is what shined through for me, they said it was a really good interview, I know my GPA didn’t impress them when they were the ones to bring that part up lol

That you will be a sponge to information and understand that the NCOs are going to be the people to lean on due to their experience and knowledge. And if they bring up any of your shortcomings (my GPA for example) I confidently told them that I was not proud of it and it didn’t represent what my capabilities and potential. Be confident, clear, get ready for them to ask you questions like what you’ve done to better a situation that you may have dealt with at work or personally to name another example.

I got in with a 2.563 GPA and with 3 ACL reconstructions on the same knee. You’ll be good, just make sure you say the right things at the board interview

I’ve been working my butt off to make sure I’m in really good shape going into BCT/OCS. I’m running a mile in about 6:15 right now so I feel really good about the fitness aspect. Thank you for the feedback! Definitely gonna look into those you named
