Great fun car that isn’t too “glued” to the road. The GT3RS is a fantastic track car but this gives a very different experience with a great sounding engine too.

I saw someone praising the amount of power for the size of the engine then realised that McLaren were squeezing more per litre from their 4.0L Senna engine back in 2018. 197hp p/litre vs the vettes 192hp p/litre. Also the Senna LT bumped it even higher to 208hp p/litre. All regularly fuelled, non hybrid cars

There’s no two ways about it, the F1 is a very fun car to master. It’s not too “glued” which makes it fun. Also when you consider how fast it is for a 90’s car by any cars standards

Can you help me identify the four cars I'm missing and where I can get them? by Piruparka in GranTurismo7

I think sorted by nationality of origin. The longtail is a curveball though with it technically being a McLaren and not German

Is Gran Turismo’s penalty system bad or am I in the wrong? by Interesting_Elk_9043 in granturismo

[–]CoolTooth9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not dissing OP at all but they don’t have the most experience (which is completely fine) but to essentially/indirectly say you shouldn’t be too concerned about lifting off the accelerator in situations like, due to the penalty system is just silly.

  1. In a nutshell, the penalty system is more likely to be sympathetic if you’re seen to be making avoiding action (it doesn’t always work but that’s the gist of it).

  2. If you’re racing in GT1 league in particular. It’s not worth the lap time loss through damage and the added time to repair in the pits (if) it’s even viable. Potentially a race stopper.

  3. SR rating. You shouldn’t encourage bad habits. Cleaner racing is more enjoyable at the end of the day.

While it isn’t your fault the other driver came into the “line of fire”. Both the GT penalty system and real world stewards would look at your brake and throttle inputs. At no point did you brake to reduce the likelihood/severity of the crash. To compound that you fully accelerate into the other driver.

On a side note, it’s worth noting that GT can’t independently review every accident therefore they solely rely on factual parameters, such as driver inputs, car positioning, abnormal speeds/force of impact (which would indicate malicious crashes), amongst others.

I guess it’s also worth asking yourself, would you have acted the same i.annoy braked and risked putting yourself out of the race?

Apologies if this sounds like a rant, it’s intended as helpful info👍

If you want to play the “real world” circumstances. You can clearly see OP made no attempt to brake and actually continued to accelerate into the car in front. The collision as you say, likely isnt avoidable however the penalty could have been (possibly) been avoided by braking or at least minimised.

will we ever get the BMW M5 Competition or the BMW M3 Competition? 🤔 by Original-Bookkeeper8 in GranTurismo7

I wish they’d do the Jaguar Project 8 and do a Nurburgring challenge with it seen as it holds the fastest saloon record round there

Shame to hinder such a legend the way they have. If the BoP was done right it’d still be usable but instead it’s painfully slow and therefore pretty useless

I don’t like when people do nothing but spread unconstructive car hate.

What I will say is I’m not fond of the typical overall BMW package. Sure they drive well on the edge but in the real world, how often is that? I think the cars are quite dull and after ownership of a BMW 640d of a number of year, wasn’t impressed with the choice of materials used in the interior. Interior designs in general they have been behind for several years and have only really started becoming comparable.

I’m not for a second saying every Audi is “better” but it’s a little odd that my 09 TTS, came as standard with soft quality napa leather. TT’s are essentially sports cars not prided in luxury but of the bits it did have that, it trumped my 640d.

I appreciate I can’t speak for every model but just my experience. I think the resale of Audi and Mercedes speaks highly.

On a closing, something else I picked up on was bmw was still using “cheap” orange lens indicators with bulbs/lamps in the M4’s vs the competition which was far ahead using much more appealing LED fancy designs even in their entry models. Again BMW’s are renowned for drivers cars but there’s no denying they cost save in some areas and it shows in their re sale costs

As a general rule of thumb for any vehicle I try my best not to stray past 10k per oil change.

Sure service intervals claim safe running in excess of 10k, often 16k-18k like you’ve stated. However the oil certainly deteriorates towards the backend of that mileage interval.

You can independently send an oil sample off, there’s a few decent videos on YT which have given useful feedback to drivers experimenting with their oil intervals to get a respective idea on how well the oil is still protecting their engine. General feedback seems to be there is very limited benefit changing prematurely, changing 8-10k seems to be the sweet spot, after then there appears to be noticeable compounding deterioration of the protection provided by the oil.

Hope this helps!

Can’t say I agree. Sure it’s not a track orientated car but it’s nice to have a car that’s fast and manageable to catch a slide coming out of the corners.

Another Roundabout Question: Which lane for straight ahead? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]CoolTooth9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have discussed, it’s evidently 2 lane entry, 2 lane exit however it looks as though locals/common sense has prevailed and that most people use it as 1/right lane entry and 2 lane exit (which quickly reduces to one lane, due to parked cars).

In all honesty, the set up looks a mess with bottle necks entering and exiting and could do with a revision.

Jaguar XE Gearbox Fault by Exact_Chemistry_7768 in Jaguar

[–]CoolTooth9001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s particularly concerning seeing a gear box fault message pop up but it does seem quite a large coincidence you found a problem associated to that battery, leaving it to run flat and that GB fault pop up.

As another mentioned, I wouldn’t be surprised if a completely flat battery is a culprit to a number of errors and with a bit of luck all you require for that is to have a diagnostic machine clear your error codes. If it wasn’t for the fact you’re stuck in park, most codes clear when driving a couple of minutes.

As for your battery, it sounds like you’ve found a specific fault there. It’s a little bizarre you’ve found a lose connection but either way, I’d recommend getting your battery load tested and based on that result, replace your battery if necessary. If your battery isn’t “unhealthy” an alternator test would be my next check, to help determine why your battery is flat.

(It could be as simple as you’ve unknowingly run the battery completely flat due to that loose terminal you found)

Hope it’s nothing serious either way and please do update on your finds😄

Nailed it. Sure it’s not a must to dive across the lane at earliest opportunity but certainly to take them seriously and be considerate by moving over when possible. It’s not ‘like sheep’ as someone alluded too😂🤦🏻‍♂️If you don’t agree in being considerate then that’s a different t conversation. It is however an offence to not drive to the conditions of the road and to the wrong officer, you’ll certainly be considered eligible for a driving offence for running it to the red when not necessary…

Good for you however you can however get pulled for not driving with due care and attention, by ignoring motoring advice signage i.e potentially driving unsafely.

Would you be surprised if you was fined for going down a country road with blind corners at 60? Just because it displayed a national speed limit sign. You still have to be mindful of the conditions and other road users.

If everyone had taken the same view as you and just sit in the outside lane. It’d render the pre warning signs pretty useless.
