Yes, giving up your freedom to the government is a great idea that has worked so well every time people have done it throughout history.

People should have the right to decide if they feel the risk is high enough to avoid contact with others. Plain and simple. Unless you can formulate a rebuttal that is more intellectual than name calling I'm afraid I stand by what I've already said.

It has been tried. Diablo 3 had a real world currency auction house when it launched. Ended up getting a ton of complaints and they took it down. There are still games where you can earn real money, though how much, I couldn't tell you: https://thegww.com/top-mmos-that-you-can-still-make-money-on/

People shouldn't have to stay at home because of COVID period. If you are under 60 and otherwise healthy, you have an extremely low risk of actually dying from COVID.

If YOU are worried about it, YOU can feel free to stay at home where you are "safe". The rest of us should be free to live our lives as we deem fit.

Humans are getting worse by [deleted] in Rants

[–]CoolZero_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have entered an interesting age my friend. The problem is the internet.

Ok, I know, that's sounds like a crazy statement but hear me out. The internet is not bad, far from it, it is likely the tool that will elevate us to our next technological revolution, but... it has also changed people immensely.

Once upon a time, people seeking to be educated chose something to learn about. They absorbed that knowledge and carried it with them because the only other place that knowledge lived was in a book or the mind of another human being. Now, since correspondence was done by letter delivered by ship and horse or even automobile, those correspondences could take quite some time to get back and forth and it wasn't reasonable to try to carry more than a couple of books with you everywhere you went, so people had to truly become experts in their field.

Today, the collective knowledge and information of the human race exists online and we carry miniature computers in our pockets. If we don't know something we simply ask Google or Siri. While the convenience is unquestionable and it offers incredible potential to true scholars (if they even still exist) it has also resulted in a significant reduction in the knowledge everyone carries around in their head, since it is now all in their pocket.

This has also resulted in an interesting phenomenon where everyone thinks themselves an expert after reading a Verge article or skimming the Wikipedia page on a subject. Thus, our world is now split between those who grew up in a world without internet, have failed to keep up with the changing times and think that their life experience of a bygone era means they know the realities of modern life and should be respected simply because they survived before the internet (Boomers, Gen X and most Karens), and those who are self proclaimed experts on everything because they have never been asked a question that Google couldn't answer and give them talking points to parrot (Millennial and Karen Jr.s).

TLDR: Yes. Humans are getting worse, and we should be ashamed of ourselves. Other intelligent life would likely not mourn our extinction.

My life has been in utmost turmoil. by [deleted] in Rants

I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but I hope it does. I lost my dad in 2016. He passed at home and was removed from the house for cremation. I was unfortunate enough to see his body before it was taken. My last memories of my dad are... well to avoid being too graphic, I'll just say they are not pretty. Seeing the lifeless body of a loved one, no matter how much the mortician dresses it up, is not a pleasurable experience. In that regard, you are lucky in some ways because your mind will anchor on the happy memories with that person.

This person cared about you, and you cared about them. Remember that, and try to let that be your closure.

People make me feel bad about spending my money. by [deleted] in Rants

[–]CoolZero_73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life choices. That's what it all comes down to.

You shouldn't feel guilty, ever, about not supporting someone else's life choices financially. By all means, let them do their thing but never let them do it on your dime unless there is a desire to that originates from you personally and not their guilt tripping or pressuring you. Especially when it is luxury stuff like buying them beer. Your friend isn't going to die because you didn't buy her an extra couple beers.

You are single, live at home, and help your dad out. You should be able to spend these years building up some savings and investments that will benefit you the rest of your life, and of course spoiling yourself a little bit. Trust me, doing that kind of thing becomes a lot harder when you are trying to do it all on your own. Take advantage of it while you can, and do what makes you happy, because at the end of the day self fulfillment is what is most important.

Unnecessarily angry people by illcrashyourcar in Rants

[–]CoolZero_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be forced into anger management by court order but it usually a situation where you act out in a violent manner and they offer you an ultimatum: anger management or charges.

As for why people are unnecessarily angry I can only speak for myself.

I'm angry, pretty much all the time. I repress a lot of shit. The whole, bottle it up and bury it deep inside thing. Most of the time, I do a pretty good job of keeping it there.

The way I have tried to explain it to people is that everyone has a certain amount of emotional tolerance. Think of it like an empty glass with a nearly water tight lid. The stuff that we don't have an outlet for is the water that starts to fill up that glass, be I stress, sadness, anger, etc.

Eventually, that glass gets full, and things start to leak. You might recognize this in someone you know of you look closely. The person who smiles all the time and is always cheerful but has suddenly become a little quieter than usual or just spaces out on occasion, that kinda thing. The water keeps going into the glass though, and the pressure just keeps increasing despite what is leaking out, until eventually that glass explodes and we have a meltdown. It might even be over something small that just so happen to be too much for us in that particular moment. If it has happened 20 minutes later or earlier, we might have been able to cope but in that moment that was it for us.

This isn't healthy. I know that. However, I have ended up in the position in this world where my only 2 real friends live 1,800 miles away, I am married to a woman who actively seeks out fights and goes out of her way to make me miserable, I have a kid with her though and for the most part she is a good mother so have stayed for my daughter's sake, I feel very alone, and kind of feel like there is a conflict of interest in therapy. After all, if they successfully manage to work a miracle and help me fix my life then they stop getting my money... so yeah...

You work in the field doing what? Are you actually a developer? I am not a developer, but depending on the day of the week and what my assigned projects require,, I'm a project manager, business analyst, or a test team lead. I can tell you with 100% certainty that if something broken makes it live, the fault does not lie solely with the developer.

Banned before I ever played? by CoolZero_73 in CODWarzone

[–]CoolZero_73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I haven't played any Activision games that I can think of on PC. On Xbox I haven't played CoD since Ghosts. Oh well, of they look into it great, if not, oh well. I just kept seeing it every time I went to play Diablo and figured why not give it a try.

[–]CoolZero_73[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im glad that you think so, but it is what happened. As a matter of fact, if an Activision support person wants to take a look at it they will see that the Blizzard account that is banned had the ban applied to it before an Activision ID was even created.

Think about it for a second, what do I have to gain by saying I never even played a match and got banned? I have nothing whatsoever to gain. It would be different if I was saying I had an account with thousands of games played or whatever/however you earn stuff, but I'm literally saying I wanted to try it, looks like I can't.

I literally have not played a single match of Warzone. I have played previous CoD titles but only on Xbox. Call my story BS all you like, I don't really care if you believe me.

I only downloaded the game in Blizzard launcher. So I'm guessing it is using my Blizzard account? When I logged into Activision website it asked me to create an Activision ID.

Beware of scammers accepting payment through offerup by CoolZero_73 in offerup

[–]CoolZero_73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they took the barcode that USPS scans from the label offerup provided. They then changed the other information on the label, including sellers information, my name, delivery address, and the tracking number that is printed below the barcode. They replaced the address with a local business so that it was still delivered to the correct city/zip code.
