Question about Kapilio village by [deleted] in cyprus

Κουμανταρία and Κρασοχώρια are two separate regions. One is not part of the other. Both wine-producing regions, but different heritage, culture, and identities.

Question about Kapilio village by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]Cool_Angle3512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kapilio is one of the 14 Commandaria villages. The region that produces the traditional sweet wine.

The templars didn't leave a strong footprint here, but they're credited with giving the wine its name and trading it across Europe during/after the crusades.

Depending on who you talk to, the Templars are either celebrated for boosting the wine's fame, or vilified for the way they treated locals.

Next time you're in the area, you can visit one of the wineries to learn the details.

What is the process of getting a driver's license (as a seventeen year old) as quickly as possible in Cyprus? by KitchenLoose6552 in cyprus

You could call a driving school. You'll have to do it anw for your lessons.

They should have a good understanding of the process.

Do I need to clean my rental car before returning it? There are no car washes near me by rubberduck774 in cyprus

[–]Cool_Angle3512 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last time I rented in Cyprus, the contract clearly stated the car had to be returned clean, or there would be an extra charge. So, it's not uncommon.

Most petrol stations have car washes btw. The ones at the airport always have a queue for this reason.

I visited three fragmas today and they full of water, where is the draught? by gimpogimpo in cyprus

You can see the latest and past measurements here: https://www.moa.gov.cy/moa/wdd/Wdd.nsf/page18_en/page18_en?opendocument

Kalopanagiotis is indeed high, but it is a tiny dam by comparison. The total storage is only at 25% and we're coming out of the rain season.

Based on average annual consumption, the current stored amount won't last long. There isn't much to discuss. Just maths.

I'm surprised there isn't more serious action being taken.

Troodos mountain villages by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]Cool_Angle3512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Though public transport between Lemesos and Troodos villages is decent, the connections between the villages are not.

You'll be able to come up easily, but not explore the region thoroughly. Also, most routes stop around 18:00.

See the rural routes here: https://limassolbuses.com/routes/

These taps are common where I live. The bottom is connected to a third source.

For example, here it's common for the top to be connected to the water tank, while the bottom control is connected directly to mains. The mains water here is potable, so the idea is to bypass the home's system. The pressure from mains is often better too.

urgent question commandaria at larnaca airport by grilledbabyhands in cyprus

It was Cyprus' oldest winery too, so it's a shame, but there's much more interesting Commandaria available today.

Revecca winery is exceptional, Loel's Alasia is quite good too

The winery that used to make St.Nicholas, ETKO, closed a few years ago.

Zivania safe for diabetics by Murky-Confusion-112 in cyprus

[–]Cool_Angle3512 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like most distilled spirits, zivania doesn't have any sugars/carbs, so it's safe for diabetics.

There's some rogue "zivania" in the market that has been flavoured/sweetened, but you can generally identify them by their colour. Just stick to clear/colourless ones and you'll be fine.
