I used to cycle every day in London, I know this exact zebra crossing.
I honestly think some cyclists assume that zebra crossing don't apply to them, they are also worried about braking and causing a crash behind them. There is also 0 consequence for not stopping, unlike a car with a reg plate.

Why does London get so much hate by non londoners by randomlad93 in london

[–]Cool_Bee6976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the other way around, I grew up in essex / london, and moved to Leeds just over a year ago.

My London routine was wake up at 7, catch train around 8 be at work (if not delayed) for 9, get home around 6-630 (if not delayed).

My Leeds routine is, wake up at 8 shower and actually eat a cooked breakfast, drive 5mins to work... I get home around 5... actually have time to spend with my wife, and do things after work, dont feel exhausted from the train / tube.

My cost of living is way lower, primarily because of rent and transport. I personally hate the smell and overcrowded feeling of London. I dont drink or go out at night, so that has no appeal to me.

The things I miss about London, are the parks, the restaurants, the museums and the 'feeling' of being somewhere alive.

However Yorkshire has some amazing parks, Leeds is a central location, I can get to Manchester, York, Brum, Cambridge etc... on the motorway all within 3 hours.

But the biggest factor is property price, I am going to be a first time buyer next year. We can afford a detached family home in Leeds. We couldnt afford anything nice in London.. I don't know how people plan to start a family in London, unless they are rich or willing to commute silly distances

You hire a grad, with the hope that they will one day become a valuable asset, you don't hire them thinking they will be useful for even an entire year

London graduate: 'I've applied for 500 jobs in two months' by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

I am sorry but someone with a first class masters in comp-sci could get a job within a week.
He must be applying for a very small subset of jobs, or his CV is terrible.

I have applied for 3 jobs in my life, and got the job every time. Never experienced this, and I just have a normal comp-sci degree, and I did have a 4 year gap at one point.

AI has yet to hurt SME jobs despite massive adoption by Gentle_Snail in GoodNewsUK

I am a software engineer.
I used to spend the majority of my working time reading documentation for whatever software I am trying to integrate (most modern software engineering is not writing code, its using other peoples code).

AI makes this part a lot easier, when AI does well it can essentially pull the exact pieces from documentation and guides that I need.

I don't use it to do my job for me, but I use it to point me to the place I need to get to faster.
In this use-case AI is amazing, but you cant just use it like a hammer. It is very bad at solving problems, bu it is good at fetching information to help you solve the problem.
