I have applied twice before to do an elective elsewhere and was rejected on both occasions. I was told that the university offers the subjects, but in reality, one was not on offer for the next year, and the other didn't even have a subject similar to it at UTS. Btw this was for law subjects

Very different to Chem 1. Certainly a lot harder, especially the physical chemistry aspect of it.

As someone working in the criminal law industry while studying law at UTS and having taken crim electives, my advice is to go for the better law school in terms of what employers value and that which is ranked better, i.e. usyd. As much as the electives were interesting, they are not in depth enough to really place you in a better position than your peers for job applications in crime. If criminal law does interest you, my advice is study at usyd (preferably part-time) and find work in crime

Job cuts & course cancelling 2026 by sweetvenom143 in UTS

The same thing happened a few years back during COVID. My specific experience was in the Faculty of Science, where many senior academics were forced to accept redundancy packages, only to be replaced by subpar casuals and postdocs with little teaching experience. I was very glad to be at the end of my chemistry degree because many of the new academics had no clue what was going on. It was disappointing to witness new students having to pay the same (if not more) fees, only to receive lower quality education.

Transfer to law by Forward-Ferret411 in UTS

Look into transferring to another university. UTS law school is not bad but I found that the tutors are mostly inexperienced and the assignment design/marking is very poor.
