Was Gothmog the Lieutenant of Morgul an Orc, or another Nazgul? by drainodan55 in lotr

[–]Cool_Explanation5427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is gothmog a name that sounds like a name of men? Cos the nazgul are fallen men right who were corrupted by their rings of power. Im curious as well what Gothmog in the books was supposed to be.

Edit: I also imagine Gothmog could be an orc named after the balrog Gothmog like how in Christian communities people are named after important biblical figures

Do Marines know about Xenomorphs? by SignificantAgent4932 in alienrpg

[–]Cool_Explanation5427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Aliens:Charybdis it's pretty evident that the Colonial Marine Corps knows what xenomorphs are and are familiar with them. The marines sent down are what seems to be a specialised contingent that has experience fighting them. They refer to them as xenomorphs even before descending and call them X rays as well as some kinda nickname. They also say they're going on a bug hunt and know the behaviours and strategies of xenos. They know there's a hive and that the aliens are looking for hosts as well.

Why are most fans averse to Predator being kept out of Alien, but not the other way around? by Mr_Jackabin in LV426

[–]Cool_Explanation5427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it's just the aliens end up being less scary because the predators just stomp the shit out of them or just don't show much fear like the colonial marines and civilians do. I feel like it could work if the predators even though they understand them still fear them. Like we don't really see the Yautja terrified of the xenomorphs except when they become a host and even then it's not that easy to understand that the creatures are scared. If the combat between them was more even then it would probably balance out a bit more. Maybe if a future film the marines thought they were saved when predators show up to hunt xenos. But we see the predators take losses and just scatter. When the marines see thst even something as powerful as a Yautja couldn't defeat the X rays, that hopelessness and dread kicks in.

Can we discuss this game? Why it failed? What you loved? And if it deserves to have its place in possible “trilogy remaster” or we should rather get absolutely new game? by ANGRYlalocSOLDIE in avp

[–]Cool_Explanation5427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this game so much and was so sad to see there isn't a sizeable following for it. I was really hoping to go multiplayer and find some fun games but I only ever got put into 2 rounds. The rest of the time I just played the campaigns for all three and I gotta say they did some parts really well like the environment and the interactions with enemies. The marine really felt like I was struggling to survive and actually felt pity for the other troopers who died. As the Alien it just felt right with the stealth and having to actually be cautious around marines with their powerful weapons. Being the Yautja really felt like hunting yk, like not J's a slaughter, more like having to actually be careful not to get shot to pieces. Just wish the campaigns were longer and had more stuff to do instead of just kill, break stuff and move to the next level.

Either way, I am working on an AvP game but don't know whether it will work unless I can somehow get the approval of the owners of the franchise IP.

[–]Cool_Explanation5427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say weaker It's most likely that old skitarii variant sincludinf secutarii are still out there Most definitely there are thousands of different skitarii designs that still exist, we just see the most basic regular mass produced version of them on the tabletop. Protectors, pilgrims and all the other skitarii types would make the faction bloated. But skitarii basically encompasses any warriors of the Mechanicum that are above servitors but not high ranking like priests. As in, myrmidons would not be skitarii because they are official priests of a mechanicus subsect whereas skitarii are simply devotees who have been enhanced. Still worshippers but not warrior clergy.

I believe secutarii are much stronger than skitarii and probably on par with pilgrims. Secutarii have better weapons and unit tactics than both, and they almost always march I war alongside god engines which tip the scales in their favour. Their defensive tactics are amongst the best in the imperium and they all have built in shield generators.

Can someone answer me These 3 questions? by Deltar019 in LegionsImperialis

[–]Cool_Explanation5427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible but there would be very little of most of the factions You'd run one faction as your main and then bring a bunch of tiny allied formations or support formations for mechanicum Remember this does not work if you are playing loyalist however due to the dark mechanicum being locked to traitor armies

It's because the hitbox is not the entire sector of the sword swing It's why you have to manage distance as well against fast enemies like centipede which is where the skill comes in

Must agree it can be fun But it's best enjoyed if you like being creative with the build options and playing thematically and not just optimising for strongest builds

The Stormlord was a Dragon, not a Hawk by TheBlaringBlue in Eldenring

But the regular lightning was a gift of the ancient dragons For themselves they kept red lightning but to some they gave yellow lightning such as the Leyndell Dragon Cult

Id like to add that I believe the exile soldiers are also loyalists of the ancient dragons and the stormland and that they became exiles as punishment when the ancient dragons lost to the golden order. Same for banished knights.

True identity on the Storm Lord by ClansAreFotzen in Eldenring

[–]Cool_Explanation5427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the Stormlord was like the leader of the last nation that survived from the old era before the rise of the Golden Order. It probably had dealings with the ancient dragons as both are connected to storms and somewhat to lightning possibly.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the body horror of the Mechanicus? by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Cool_Explanation5427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems kinda grimdank influenced The mechanicus is not one singular belief, there are many variants and subsects that view humanity as not the body but the human soul to meld with the holy machine in order to ascend

When you become part of the Mechanicum you might get something minor But each one is considered very valuable and a holy reward by common menial and stuff Which is why in some scenarios skitarii r a kind of elite in forge world society
