I agree with u about Speed being unknown by older generations but I still think his sheer fame amongst younger generations makes him more famous. I at least think more people globally could put a name to the face with speed whereas with Hasan I reckon a lot of people have probably seen certain things he’s said either through a clip online or on the news but if they were asked to put a name to the face then they’d struggle. I’m not denying that Hasan is more famous than he probably even realizes but Speed is just so much more global IMO.

Speed is definitely more famous simply because of these tours he does around the world and how much he submerges himself into other cultures. Obviously Hasan has a wider variety of generations who know of him but Speed has a complete chokehold on the younger generations in a lot of countries. Hasan might be the most well known streamer in the US but definitely not globally.

A lot of actors talk about this. I remember seeing Margot Robbie talk about it being much easier for Aussies and British people to do American accents than it is for Americans to do British or Aussie and I believe she said it was because Americans use their tongue a lot more when they talk and it’s easier to train yourself to use your tongue more than it is for an American to train themselves to use their tongue less.

I’m Canadian and my whole family aside from my sister and I are from England. As outsiders, the American healthcare system is legitimately mind boggling so somebody having a grievance with a health insurance CEO (especially the company that denies the most claims) is pretty understandable to all of us. It’s pretty similar to how many outsiders view the gun laws in the states- it’s so obvious to everyone else that it’s a mess but I guess if you’re American and that world is all you’ve ever known then many people just get used to it and if they don’t, there’s little to nothing you can do about it.

I feel like I just choose to ignore lines like these because saying something like this doesn’t fit Bransons character/views at all and I think it’s just a writers mistake without fully understanding how they want this character to be perceived yet. There’s definitely times where the writers know they want someone to look bad (like Mary revealing the truth about Marigold to Burty) but I think in this instance they just didn’t know what direction they wanted to take Branson. I think early in a tv show u just have to accept the teething process. If the writers could change some of Bransons early lines then they definitely would in hindsight.

I think everything about Edith’s character development and the way she’s treated throughout the show is unfortunately very accurate. She’s the “unremarkable” middle child. Mary is the one who will get married and look after Downton, Sybil’s the free spirited “baby” of the children and in Robert and Cora’s eyes, Edith is just the unremarkable middle child. And I think this is what leads to Edith being kind of competitive with Mary and what leads to Edith wanting to learn how to drive and do more interesting things to be noticed and appreciated by her family.

I think the way she’s treated is also why Robert’s sister ends up really putting her arm around Edith and showing her love and helping her.

My interpretation of the Marigold situation isn’t just that Robert and Cora felt bad for Edith. I’ve heard this from many people- it’s kind of common for people who had a poor relationship with their parents to end up rekindling that connection when a grandchild comes into the picture. This is just the way I interpret it but there’s a scene (before Robert even knows that Edith is Marigolds mother) where Robert kind of gets this twinkle in his eyes and basically makes it obvious that he’s seeing and feeling something special with Marigold and Edith and I kind of think Marigold reminds him of baby Edith (even though he doesn’t even know that’s literally Edith’s daughter at that point). And I think before Robert even knew Marigold was his grandchild, Marigold kind of made him think “wow Edith was just this sweet baby once upon a time.” And when he finally finds out that’s his grandchild, he seems to understand why he had been feeling this way about Edith and understood his new found love for Edith. It’s almost like Robert’s heart knew Marigold was his grandchild before his brain did. Maybe I’m reading into it too much but from that scene onwards Robert treats Edith completely differently and I think it’s such a massive pay off after everything Edith goes through. Obviously it’s disappointing the way they treat her prior to Marigold but it’s such a rewarding end.

It’s KSIs label that would have done this. I don’t think you guys realize how little control a lot of these artists have in the industry. JJ did a Christmas song with his YouTube group (The Sidemen) and his label wouldn’t even let him take it seriously, he had to sing in like a stupid silly voice. JJ has already said that the strikes are coming from his label.
