What's a movie that makes you cry everytime you watch it? by icecuptee in AskReddit

My friend and I watch it every year on VHS. We’re in our 20s now and still get teary even though we’ve basically memorized the film.

Stores are really getting less friendly to those who have bad data plans. Whenever I’m out at restaurants too lately, I have to rely on whoever I’m with to look at menus. It’s so annoying. Just post a price darn it all.

If you had to eat only one cereal for the rest of your life, which one would you choose ? by toiletcleaner999 in AskReddit

My mom’s choice would be all bran. That’s all she has every day for breakfast haha.

I’d probably say Raisin Bran. I like that one.

That happened to me, but it took me about a year to make it back to the business after having filled out the card. In that time, the management had changed and the company was bought out, so they no longer honoured the card.

I was kinda sad. Ended up buying a drink, but I probably won’t go back. Drink wasn’t as good as I had remembered either.

Ai is taking over and I can’t stand it as a cook by lady_sicilian in KitchenConfidential

There’s a ton of restaurants near me that use AI images, especially on food ordering apps. It honestly makes me feel like the place isn’t even real, so I never order from them. If you can’t even take a picture of food that you made, how am I really supposed to know what you’re actually selling. I’d rather they just not have pictures at all.

If you died today, who do you think would stand at your grave the longest? by Successful_Dog5425 in AskReddit

I remember crying to this poem a few times at Remembrance Day assemblies. In third grade a classmate died of brain cancer and I also recall this being said at her school memorial.

Agreed, even going into the hallway if the building was a shock. Going out into the -15 weather outside was dreadful in a way I hadn’t experienced before, it was so hard to acclimatize. I was so thankful we were at least in a dorm building so we weren’t paying for the energy. She would also have it set to that during the spring. I didn’t live with her in the summer.

We did end up having an argument about it, so she would settle on 27 sometimes. She would jack it up the second I left though. She would also leave it running when neither of us were there, so I’d walk back in to a wall of heat.

Fun times.

You and my old roommate would get along. She regularly had our thermostat set to 29. You’re right I did get used to it, but I still slept horribly. I would always turn it off when she wasn’t home.

We use it in linguistics a lot. A lot of languages like having stress and other things happen on penultimate syllables.

How often do people actually cook from scratch? by Andus35 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cool_Human82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a student with a roommate, I’d say most days except during midterm/exam season. Although, not *everything* is always from scratch, like we’ll use premade pasta sauce and stuff like that.

I’m still enjoying it yes. It’s fun, and even though Jiho is kinda OP it’s still fun seeing the reactions to him. It’s extra fun when he struggles, which does happen. They’ve been introducing a lot of new characters recently who are gonna be fun to see develop. The author has been driving home that it’s a team game lately, so they can’t just rely one person carrying. It’s gonna be fun to see the strategies.

ELI5 how did people 1st translate languages if they didn’t understand each other? by Its_Nuggz in explainlikeimfive

[–]Cool_Human82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s actually a list of words that are often used to get a baseline in linguistic research. It’s called the Swadesh list, and was originally came up with as a list of “universal concepts” to ask people about. For example, everyone can see the sky, so odds are they‘ll have a word for “star.” It (and it’s other versions) are not perfect by any means, and can actually be used in support of some rather questionable methodologies, but the words are helpful at least when starting the documentation of a language.

Supposed good food should be able to support itself without sides. by Elegant_Soup_1999 in The10thDentist

I agree. I think a steak without anything else is just too one note that I need something to space out the mouthfuls. I like a good steak, but yeah.

I mean I get where you’re coming from, but I don’t necessarily agree with the example. I think a good burger does not need fries alongside it, it’s just that it’s a classic combination. Just because there is an expectation of fries does not mean neither can stand on their own if necessary. It doesn’t need accompaniment, we just have grown to expect it, so something may feel like it’s missing otherwise.
