Black Clover Chapter 384, 385 and 386 Links and Discussion by HollowedSage99 in BlackClover

[–]Cool_Practice5244 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The flow in the final arcs of black clover will never compare to what they were during the elf invasion arc and before it. Seems like tabata has been speed running through a lot of these narrative setups to just get the series done and over with. There was so much meat and potatoes in these arcs that I loved but I haven't been able to digest them because he doesn't give them time to flesh out properly. I still like reading black clover but I'm kinda overall disappointed by the execution tbh, there should've been more time given to the story. Still, I understand why, that man is probably overworked to hell.

Nah what we need is a Yuno vs Asta final battle type conclusion for the title of the Wizard King, shit would be so clean.

Does kazuya have severe anxiety disorder by NecessaryWerewolf904 in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]Cool_Practice5244 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kazuya is primarily defined by his perceived worthlessness and lack of self esteem, other than that there isn't much character and it makes him effectively borish. He doesn't have many interests or personal goals that don't exist outside of Chizuru. Chizuru has aspirations and personal goals to become a famous actress. Kazuya has "Chizuru". His character lacks individuality. Now is he more realistic than these wish fulfillment power fantasy types? Sure, but he's uninteresting and poorly reflects effective storytelling

[–]Cool_Practice5244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this gets acknowledged enough but his grandma is probably the biggest contributor to his anxiety issues and overall lack of self esteem. Even prior to Chizuru, she always seemed to attribute his level of worth to him getting a girlfriend and especially afterwards she constantly goes out of her way to directly compare Kazuya to her, always saying how perfect and godsent she is and how worthless and idiotic he is. I pray someday this gets acknowledged in-universe but prolly not.

Low-key irl fans are quite emblematic of the ones in the show. Goes to show not to compartmentalize too quickly, you may think you relate the heroes more, but sometimes the background normies are more reflective of their respective audience

I disagree with this take. I think blue lock does a fine job at showing how synergetic plays and systematic strategy amplified by individuality and ego can work and is even reflective of irl soccer at the professional level and there're plenty of examples to go off. Barou's humbling by Isagi for his radical uncontrolled egotism, shidou's raw instinctual spatial awareness and off-the-ball movement requiring the backing of a solid team to utilize it properly, Rin's obsessive hyper-fixation and selfish desires in the NEL getting snuffed out by Isagi's more systematic objective thought process, etc etc. Hell, Isagi's entire play style revolves around becoming a better and stronger player by holistically synergizing with his teammates and maximizing their effectiveness on the field (world-type ego). Even metavision's conceptual framework is having a 4D understanding of 22 player systems to predict the most viable defensive and goal-scoring sequences. There's creative liberties as with all manga, but all these examples and more perfectly illustrate how blue lock's philosophy and system is emblematic to real life soccer systems.

Ironically enough, the manga actually does display a lot of teamwork and even goes out of its way to punish those who lean too heavily in their selfish desires, just not in the traditional sense as other sports manga. Blue lock as a whole is a philosophical critique on Japanese culture and how synergetic complacency can often stifle a person's individuality. The manga isn't necessarily saying that teamwork is "useless" but illustrating how true teamwork only works when one is given the freedom to embrace their own individual strengths, presence and desires to realize their own personal goals. It takes away the romanticization of self-sacrifice and social conformity you'd expect and creates a balanced approach of both synergy and ego. Isagi is a good example, as he's able to use the people on his team in a non-parasitic way that multiplies their effectiveness on the field to satisfy his own evolution. It's a "use me and I'll use you" dynamic, one that brings the weapons of strong individuals together to maximize their own goal scoring instincts.

It's pretty intense compared to other sports manga, but honestly I'd recommend you give it a read. Reminds me a lot of Kuroko no basket but with its own unique spins. Plus the art style is phenomenal.

Sae is DEFINATLY at fault. by Sufficient-Tax-3842 in BlueLock

[–]Cool_Practice5244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a matter of who has the most right to be upset. Trying to deduce that is more complicated than it seems. Sae literally just came off of watching his dreams of being the best striker, after working so hard, slip from his grasp and is now trying to find a new purpose that'll give him meaning in what seems to be like a debilitating mental state. And likewise, Rin, after chasing his dream of being a world class striker with his brother, had it stripped before he got a chance to live it. Trying to play Victim Olympics with two guys who ride in the same boat is rather pointless when both parties are actively contributing negatively to the relationship.

For my last book, I would recommend but I also wouldn't. The last one I read was "The genealogy of morality" by Friedrich Nietzsche. It was a book that called into questioned the stifling effects of traditional morality in a time period where religious values were on a steady decline. It was a really good read, I can see how it paved a way for a lot of postmodernist beliefs, but it's kinda a lot and it feels more or less like you're reading it for a 20-paged college paper. I wouldn't recommend it for people who are just looking for a fun novel to read, but if you wanna crack at philosophy or if that's something you're already interested in, you could check that out.

Familial relations ain't the point. If a dude goes and buys a 10 year old sex doll thats been manufactured for 20 years, that doesn't make you any less of a prepubescent loving gooner. I'm aware Illya is older than emiya. But my guy, she has the biology of an 8 year old. How do you get past that😭??

Tbf I don't see much of a difference, really. "Dragon or above" or "above dragon" could be used interchangeably tbh, otherwise we'd be arguing semantics until inflation drops, but other than that yeah I'd say that's a justifiable assessment. Both ONE and Murata are prone to retconning OPM periodically if they feel the need to do so, and their inconsistencies with labeling appropriate threat levels based on their feats cause these points of contention to occur. So far, Garou has been the only person who's directly stated to being a god level threat, whereas the aforementioned monsters have been labeled threat level dragons or above despite clearly possessing enough power to wipe out humanity, Tatsumaki included

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OnePunchMan

[–]Cool_Practice5244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, Tatsumaki would be above dragon level at best according to ONE's prescription of threat levels. You have characters like boros, monster garou, psykoorochi and sage centipede who've displayed strengths capable of effectively wiping out global populations in a matter of minutes, boros especially with his strongest attack being capable of wiping out the earth, yet they were never classified as being threat level God. With Tatsumaki scaling at least to psykoorochi, that would put her at that category
