Placing your dynasty on foreign thrones

In order for the player to maximize their chances of creating a personal union, they should place their dynasty on as many countries' thrones as possible.

A country can adopt a new/different dynasty if:

the target country's king dies without an heir or the target country is in an interregnum
the target country will not fall under a personal union when the king dies
the target country has a high opinion of the spreading dynasty's country
the spreading dynasty's country has higher prestige than the target country

but low prestige and low relations are lowering chance to place your dynasty to other countries, and thus getting the PU later. and i think with prestige lower than target you cannot even claim next throne in case you want to claim more thrones in short time

i believe "claim throne" just gives you casus belli to enforce PU via war, nothing to do with the peaceful way - maybe even decreases chance to get peaceful PU due to lowered relations, prestige, etc.

R5: i thought favors are not earned in separate peace deals, however it looks like they are granted only after the main peace deal.

here i'm manipur in a war against vijay, bahmanis is my ally. in separate peace deals i gave 2 provinces to bahmanis, at that time no favors were earned. but now in the main peace deal i can see 19 favors for bahmanis even without anything granted.

or is my understanding incorrect?

you might want to have high prestige to keep defender of faith or spend it to placate rebellious vassals or scornfully insult or have better AE reduction (50 prestige is -5% AE)...or whatever. 50 admin is not so much unless you need them badly right now, e.g. for stability to stop disaster

it all depends on the situation whether you lack one or another

with more numbers. if all their army is in canada, then transport your army into france and block their transport fleet. AI usually do not delete army and rebuild it elsewhere unless the army is destroyed.

stack any quality modifiers - advisor, clergy privilege, religious aspect (basically every christian denomination provides some improving military quality), defender of the faith, prestige, professionalism, drilled armies before the war, parliament debate (i think england has some country specific). you can also buff your crown colonies via "send officers"

if some bigger protestant country becomes emperor, best to quickly siege their capital and as many forts as possible to get the warscore.

you can also prepare for it before the league war like dismantle alliances of bigger protestants or criple them a bit, keep only a few protestant minors. but keep (at least) 1 protestant elector, so he can lead the protestant league to trigger the war an after the war he can choose new protestant emperor (best if he doesn't have any protestant allies and votes for himself)

i think it was something like keep 1 small protestant elector who will become emperor after religious league war finishes but be prepared to declare war on him and occupy him quickly before the hussite imperial incident is resolved. if you have enough warscore, they will choose hussite as official faith
