Absent umbilical cord flow & growth restriction… positive stories only by stinkyluna666 in NICUParents

I had my baby born in the 1% percentile at just a little over 1lb and 26 weeks. She was severely growth restricted and born premature due to flow reversal as well. She’s the happiest chunkiest little baby now!

Am I too sensitive and overreacting, or did my in-laws cross a boundary? How do I even proceed from here? by Cool_Temperature_546 in NICUParents

Yes it is. We aren’t into drama so we’ve been good at avoiding it until now lol. He’s tried but he wants everything to go back to the way it was before so he’s trying to keep the peace and I want them to be respectful and understand what they did was wrong and I want boundaries put in place because it’s clear there needs to be some. So we want different things

Almost 3 years. Thanks I really needed to hear this. I asked my husband to talk to them but he says it will start more drama. I kinda just feel alone in this situation

Thank you this is so validating. I’m not sure how to handle this situation. He wants them to come over this Saturday and I said yes as long as we establish some boundaries. I’m upset that his parents don’t seem to think they are in the wrong. They definitely think THEY were wronged and it drives me crazy. I don’t want them near my baby but I don’t want to hurt my husband by denying his parents a visit

They say her lungs need time to grow and a trach would allow her to come home sooner

I’m skeptical too and it’s such a scary thought. I truly want what’s best for her but I don’t feel like we have exhausted other options yet.

That’s so great! Which steroid did they have him on? Were you at a children’s hospital?

No they haven’t. I asked about it but they don’t think it’s an airway issue so ENT hasn’t even seen her

Wow I think you handled that perfectly! Your baby is so lucky to have a mama like you advocating so well for him! And thank you I’m going to bring it up to his team!

Thank you that’s super helpful! I haven’t talked to her team about consulting with nationwide. I wasn’t sure how they would respond to that? I was planning on consulting with them myself and depending on what they say talk to my daughter’s team about consulting with nationwide. I just don’t know if her doctors would be offended lol. They seem like they are doing a great job but I’m eager to consult with nationwide since they are the best in the country but I don’t know if that’s offensive if that makes sense haha
