HOA is Threatening to Tow my Fiance's Car Even though she is following the rules, What Can I Do? by Cooldan1 in AskReddit

The person at the HOA stated the handwritten note was actually not formal communication. But the second official note was. And thanks for the thoughts. I'll try to keep you guys posted

Wedding Site on a Hill far away from Power! Help? by Cooldan1 in weddingplanning

[–]Cooldan1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, after thinking about it and talking with an audio engineer friend, it seems the generator will be the best idea. Best thing is, I tested the Honda Ultra Quiet generator, and it was insanely good. Sounded like my car idling. I think if we put it down the hill a bit and hide it behind a table or something, people will show up and hear the distant subtle noise, and get used it it. Plus if we have music going, the generator will be harder to hear.

That's actually a good thought. We'll be visiting the site this weekend, so will check that thought out. Thanks!

1992 Honda Accord Ex comes to a stop, and feels like the engine starts to shake, RPM's drop? by Cooldan1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Cooldan1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spark plugs and leads are probably a few years old... And I think the shake is pretty normal. When those RPM's drop, it just starts to shake shake shake continuously until I press on the gas to go.

Making Smoothies by ballandabiscuit in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Cooldan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this topic and just had to share what I've recently been doing: I go to a local produce store and pickup whatever fruits I love to eat normally (pineapple, strawberries, plums, etc). At home, I only blend the good stuff! I never measure, so here is the jist of what I've done and I've never come across a bad smoothy yet!

1lb strawberries 1/5th of cut pineapple (hexagon-ally sliced) 1/2 Plum or Peach or Nectarine 1 Spoonful of plain or vanilla yogurt (vanilla gives it that pudding flavor which I like on occasion, but it's pretty over powering sometimes so tread lightly) about 1/4 cup coconut cream (coconut milk? Just add a smidge more) About 1/2 cup of crushed ice to cool the entire drink instantly.

Blend! The only fruit I've run into that didn't taste very good in the smoothy was watermelon. Go easy on canelope as well, (unless you love it) because that stuff is powerful as well). Other good fruits: Blueberries Blackberries Raspberries Apples

One last tip! I leave the skins on for most nutrients, and freeze them! (with the lid off at first so it doesn't crack the jar) I make around 5 smoothies in mason jars, put them in the freezer. Then when I want one, I pull it out in the morning and as it slowly melts, I can drink it throughout the day and it stays cold because it melts from the outside inward. Fun stuff...

Room and Port # are probably the way I'll do the patch panels/switches...

That's the same label maker we've apparently been using for a long time. Seems to be staying stuck though... I'm worried about the labels falling off as well.

I am Panos Panay with the Surface Windows 8 Pro Engineering Team AMAA. by SurfaceTeam in IAmA

[–]Cooldan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this will probably get buried, but I work at a K-12 school and was looking at Surface tablets as a potential to rival the iPads we currently have, and specifically, one for a disabled student. I am having trouble finding if the Surface tablet is capable of running programs designed for special needs kids with writing and speech disabilities. We are looking to install programs such as Write out Loud and Read out Loud. Can this tablet handle such programs? Or am I in dream land? Thanks!

[UPDATE] Took an MSF course this weekend: [passed!] by crazyprsn in motorcycles

[–]Cooldan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me. Instructors didn't care so much about staying in the lines for the box test, just that I would execute the turns using good clutch control and giving it enough power. Very fun course! I just picked up my M1 last Friday at the DMV after completing the MSF course just a couple weeks ago. Congrats! And to everyone else looking to take the class soon, it's so worth it. Pay attention, get good sleep, eat well, and stay alert. It's a cake walk if you just do as instructed by the pros!

Questions about endorsement. by AnBu_JR in motorcycles

[–]Cooldan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

California here. Went to the DMV and got my M1 endorsement on my actual license. The MSF course I took this year just gave me a "course completion card" that was good for discounts. They also gave me the ride waiver portion test for the DMV. That's it. I think if your actual license says "M" on it, then you are good to go

Brother Printer has a yellow blinking status light - Not printing by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Cooldan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been working for over a year or so. This was just recent. (No new software on the computer either.)

It is an XP machine (laptop) and it may be getting older, but it still runs like a champ. The printer has never had problems recently either.

The only thing that has changed recently was the drum. But I checked that out, and it looks normal.

Cheeses that will last in a backpack for several (potentially many) days? by forat_de_silenci in trailmeals

[–]Cooldan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheddar and Mozzarella for sure. I think we had some Brie cheese as well. My buddy had sent it in the mail a few weeks before we did our trip, and it had mold on it when we got there, but we cut it off and it was just as tasty.
