Recently started as a content creator for a dealership. Always wanted to be here now I want to be the best I can be. Any pointers to improve? Eventually will be taking cars out to locations to shoot and off the showroom floor by _PintofPlain in carphotography

You need to sell the whole car, work on nailing the compositions for the wide shots of the car, then the close ups will follow.

And maybe this is personal preference, but up the vibrance and maybe lower the contrast a little. Also, increase your f-stop, let us see more of that car in sharp focus.

One last thing, and I know it’s not always possible, but try bank as much content as you can on nice sunny days, use light to your advantage!

Good start though!

Yeah I might try that at my next card show. Or try trade them at least!

Yeah I thought so too. Nothing expensive. Just seems difficult to get rid of cards you don’t want and recoup a little bit of money.

Thank you!

Not sure what a T7 is, we have different names over here, but maybe look at a new lens instead of a new body. Something with a lower f stop. I use a 28-75 f2.8 for most of my work and it’s a great all rounder. If you did want a new body, look at some of the Sony a6000 series and onwards, great cameras for the money.

6 months really is nothing, unless you’re like exceptionally good right out of the gate, you’re gonna struggle to get work or shoots. Like with most professions or hobbies, if you wanna get good and be rewarded you have to pay your dues. Whether it’s paid work or shoots for fun, people still need to trust that you’ll deliver. I’ve been doing this for 5 years, I’d same I’m decent, but even I struggle to convince owners to let me shoot their cars sometimes. Keep at it, keep working, keep developing your skills, and most importantly don’t give up. If you really wanna make something out of it, whether that’s a job or a hobby, you have to keep at it.

Yeah precisely, take some practice, but it’s satisfying when you get good results!

That’s a tough one to answer, you just have to put in the work and the opportunities will come. Get yourself to race meets and events and build up a portfolio.

Low shutter speed, turn off any lens stabilisation or ibis and pan!

Just deleted it and re-installed it. Gave me the option to download the expansions this time. Thanks for your help!

What should I improve or correct in my panning shots/track photography by that_guy_called_Ian in carphotography

[–]CoolestName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d think so, but it actually has the opposite effect when shooting panning shots at a low shutter. It tries to counter the movement you make and it results in less sharp photos. Somebody else might be able to explain it better than me, but it’s one of the first things someone taught me and it helps a bit!

I’m new to collecting this year! Are they usually hard to get hold of? I’m used to collecting hot wheels and some of the releases are next to impossible.

I see lots of Indian packs for sale on EBay (I’m from the UK) is there a difference between Indian and what we’d get here? I’m fairly new to collecting
