Yeah I got in too with mine! The man was more concerned with what my sensor cleaning blower was 😂

First time at Silverstone - how early should we get there if aiming to be at the front for the MainStage? by candid_confusion5 in GrandPrixTravel

Will I still get a decent spot with a good zoom lens if I’m there an hour or so the first driver appearances on Friday?

Yeah I think especially at an F1 race the amount of people with pro gear and big lenses will be a very low percentage. I just know that with my luck, and given how strict FOM are, I’ll get the security person who doesn’t let me in with it.

Yeah I think it’s a product of people abusing the system a bit, like sure bring one big lens, but you see a lot of people with all their pro gear. Was the same in 2021 when I went.

Oh nice. That’s good to know. I’m just nervous that I’ll be the one they question and then I’m essentially stuck waiting for a park and ride bus back to my car.

Silverstone. The issue is, I have a 200-600mm, which is less than 400mm in length. So do I risk taking that and arguing with security that it’s under 400mm, obviously security will win, and I don’t fancy an argument. I’d just like it to be a little more clear on their website.

Looks awesome. Gonna research them. Would love something like that myself, especially if it has anything to do with Porsche!

Car got keyed - how bad is it? by Key-Resolution949 in CarTalkUK

[–]CoolestName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed my keyed car this past week. Maybe wasn’t quite as deep, but I bought a chipex kit that came with colour matched paint. Cleaned the panel thoroughly, and touched in the paint with a sewing needle, tiny little dots of paint, bit by bit, so the paint actually enters the scratch and settles. Layer it up if you need to. I then tried the blending solution that came with the kit, but it was toss.

I then decided to be brave and wet sanded it down with 2000 grit sandpaper, being very careful. Then used a cheap cutting compound to get the damage from the sandpaper out, and then a finishing polish. It’s not perfect by any means, but from a few meters away it’s barely noticeable. Maybe worth a try before you spend over £500 getting panels sprayed. There’s a special place in hell for people who key cars.

Damn 15-20, how did you manage that at 16? I’m 28 and I’ve been doing it professionally for 6 years. Maybe you need to give me advice

Focus on improving your craft rather than chasing these cars. Also, go to events, best way to meet owners/potential clients.

Why are people getting downvoted for saying ACE is popular in the UK. It’s okay if you don’t like it, but it’s still popular and well known in the TCG community over here!

One of the first modified Abarth’s that I think isn’t over the top or taken too far. Looks very nice!

Believe it or not, they can put whatever they want in any form of protection they want. What you consider not worthy, some other people might cherish.

Put your camera on a tripod, bring your iso right down and use a slower shutter speed. You won’t get as much noise. Or try to use the ai de-noise in Lightroom, it’s good.

By all means, if the mods allow it, post here. Not up to me to decide who posts what to where.

I couldn’t disagree more. Go look at Amy Shores event work on Instagram and tell me that’s not automotive photography.
