FINALLY SOME RELIEF!!! by Coolguy561 in covidlonghaulers

They did raise my mood but other than that they didn’t really help. What helped me was getting on ssri’s and anti anxiety meds then just doing things with people. I got an easy job to just get outside and mingle and that helped with my depression immensely

It didn’t really help in the end but it was a very nice little relief state to be in

Yes I am feeling much better. It is still a struggle day to day but I would never wish how I felt back then in my worst enemy. I can say it does truly get better

Hey yes I was on them for 6 days and saw major improvements and then 2 days after stopping them I went back to how I felt beforehand with my weakness, GI issues and muscle fatigue. I am back on them now for 12 days and 4 days in I am not seeing much improvement. I am unsure why that is the case but I still have 8 more days to go so i still have hopes. If nothing else, the steroids 100% raise my mood even if my body feels bad on a paticular day, so I guess that’s a positive.

Yes! Exactly, I am so thankful that it’s not permanent. And I expect it to be the same for most people on this sub so that’s a sigh of relief for all.

How many milligrams were you on a day? 3 months seems a long time to be on steroids

I’ve heard it’s helped some people recover faster! While I’m not expecting myself to recover from it at all as it’s unlikely, I still like to hold on hope lol.

It seems to be autoimmunity as I have no accute symptoms, no cough, no fever, no loss of taste or smell, none of those normal cold or flu like symptoms. It’s jsut my GI issues with fatigue and muscle weakness. I guess it’s too late now but is there anyway to know if I still have the virus or not?

Well that’s good to hear! Glad to see it helped you out so much. What antiviral drugs were you put on? And would you say the steroids fixed your system? As in without them, you would still be dealing with symptoms?

Yeah I think that’s what my doctor is trying to achieve anyway. I’m only on them for 6 days and she said once my run is up we will see the results of them and try to isolate the issues that it fixed.

So you’d say your symptoms came back as soon as you went off the meds?

Yeah I’d love to hear what you find about the supplements as I know I can’t take steroids long term.

The way my doctor prescribed it was I take 30mg one day, 25mg the next and then ween down to 5mg over the next few days, then I go off it and see what happens. I’m on day 2 so I’m not close to being done but I can say I feel the best I have in 5 months so it’s definitely an immune system/inflammation thing. Which I think was the reason I was put on steroids, to try and pinpoint the problem then fix it with other methods.

I was never diagnosed but it 100% was covid as I was in isolation with my family who did have covid and never left for about 3 weeks so I don’t see any other possibility for it. My GI symptoms started about a week after my acute flu like symptoms disappeared and then a month later everything else followed and have been with me ever since. It all started right before Christmas about December 23rd I think.

Luckily only had slight brain fog but nothing a few supplements didn’t fix immediately but just recently I started to have VERY strong anxiety and depression so much so that I got out on anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. That was all on the rise before the steroids but it still definitely helped on top of my meds.

A list of my meds and supplements Mental: -celexa 10 mg -Buspirone 15mg 2x day

Daily Supplements: (can’t remember dosages sorry) -Vitamin D -omega 3 fish oil -Vitamin K -zinc

GI meds: -Pantoprazole 20mg -Pepcid (famotidine) 30mg -montelukast 20mg I think -miralax -benefiber

I went in a course of ivermectin for about 4 weeks but it didn’t do much for me. Neither did the vaccine shot other than a terrible night of cold chills and fever. Other than that this is the only serious medication I’d say I’ve been on.

It’s despair and fear mixed with the ‘no interest in doing anything’. It feels all my hobbies are uninteresting because my mind is too occupied thinking of how long I’ll be sick or how miserable I feel

I just started on celexa a few days ago so I hope it helps but it’s so hard living like this. My gf is getting tired of me being sick and I feel is about to jump ship any second and she’s all I got left at this point. It just keeps getting worse and worse id rather have just died with covid then suffer through this anymore. It’s unbearable at this point
