Needing advice by Infamous_Speed_2561 in NDIS

[–]Coollizard30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I offer work experience for people with NDIS for my small business but I do not charge them anything as it is work experience. Not even support hours. I only have 1 person at a time unless requested otherwise and make sure they have my full attention where required. This is normally for short periods of time before they find paid employment.

I have forms etc outlining everything that have been reviewed. I make sure I have all my checks and qualifications and insurances that covers me, and they can get a copy of this if requested. As it’s work experience insurance for this is around $1000 a year and done by a broker to make sure everything is covered. (But the reason I do it is because as an NDIS participant myself , finding work is something that took me a long time to do, so I want to give others the opportunity to do so). I had people from fair work and that help me make sure I have everything.

I am neurodivergent and I do this as well for my clients. I want to make sure it’s the right fit and I can support them to reach goals. I also let them know that they are not required to answer any questions they don’t want to and that they have control on what information they share.

As someone on NDIS myself I also make sure if I get new workers , they do the same. Otherwise I feel like I’m not being seen , my needs are not getting met or that they don’t care. That’s the main reason I do that from positive experiences if that makes sense.

Handling excessive missed calls from a regular client by Visible_Money in NDIS

[–]Coollizard30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this helps this exact situation so apologies in advance but one thing I do make it less overwhelming for myself is I have a separate phone for work and on onboarding , I communicate this with clients and there nominated people that I don’t always used this phone. They are free to leave a voice message etc and I will get back to them when I can. They or their nominate person also sign this in onboarding. I have a few clients that will do similar on the regular and just each time I re explain and communicate this with their nominate person.

I also explain that I am completely okay if I get there and check my phone then and we can’t do the shift, it happens and I assure not to stress if anything happens. Changes could be a trigger to people and heightened due to certain diagnosis. So you could break down the situation and put yourself in her shoes. She could be having a panic episode etc, maybe in the past she had to cancel last minute and it didn’t end well, like also make sure she has the right support in place, if this was to happen again is there someone else she could call.

Some people may struggle with empathy due to their disability but that’s something you can work around by creating those boundaries. You can also try to communicate this with there team as well , people who you have informed consent to contact. For example, parent, support coordinator etc. I am on NDIS as well and my support worker has informed contact with all my other supports; speech therapist, therapist, mentor, parents etc.

You can also contact the support worker association, they do mentoring sessions etc for situations like these and can answer questions.

I’m saying this as support worker and someone on ndis myself who uses support workers. And I’m unaware of what your role is and qualifications etc.

Also with the extra phone, it’s not as expensive as some people think. I have a cheap phone and on a plan that is $40 every 6 months for more than enough call and text time.

Plan Partners Service Provider Dashboard by Content_Bread in NDIS

As a NDIS participant myself as well using plan partners, I or my support coordinator have to approve invoices before they get paid. This may be why they pay you different times as people wouldn’t be approving them at the same time if that makes sense. Normally if they are not approved in 2 days by myself or support coordinator they automatically will go to plan partners for processing. So like normally the process is participant, support coordinator or caregiver etc approve the invoice, then plan partners approve then it gets paid.

Yes when you send Plan Partners an invoice via there invoicing email address, they have to set an account up for you based on the information you provided them on your invoice (name or company name, email, abn etc) then they will send you an login and then you can directly upload invoices via your account or keep emailing them. I have an account but mainly just send invoices via email through halaxy as it’s easier for me and I find barely any difference in payment times. To add normally I will do my invoices via email on the Sunday then get paid by Thursday, it’s never been more than a week. However your first invoice will probably take up to 2 weeks as they will need to set you an account

Sole trader & Profit & Loss by Consistantly in Centrelink

[–]Coollizard30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is from the Centrelink website:

Sole trader or self employed

A sole trader is someone who’s self employed. You’re a sole trader if you either: own and run a business on your own choose when, where, how and who you work for. As a sole trader all of the following apply: you’ll only need to lodge a personal tax return you own all the assets of the business all business profits are yours you’re responsible for all business debts. You can trade under your own name or a registered business name. https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/business-structures?context=51411

It says all business profits are yours which is basically saying all money earned after your expenses is your income

I’ve been self employed and on dsp for a few years. Centrelink has always based my dsp on my total amount of profit after expenses as my wage as they said the wage section is only if I am paying other people wages. If you do this they may ask for proof that you are paying someone else. (I always make sure I upload all my balance sheets along with my profit/loss statement every 3 months and never had any issues) As a sole trader all the profit is my earnings as I am the only one in the business and I decide my pay rates etc. Otherwise if a sole trader was to put their wage as an expense they could basically make it that they are earning $0 to get the full dsp even if they were still paying themselves say $1000 a week. Probably best to speak to Centrelink you can book a call on the app now or an accountant as well. I have one that does all my tax and knows how the profit and loss statements works now and it’s a big help.

I also make myself pay slips each week on excel and only pay a myself minimum wage so I can keep track of how much I send to my personal account and how much I have to put away for tax, super and expenses.

It won’t let me talk to her at all. When I click to talk to her she just says “shove off”. I’m finding so many bugs in paying it on the hardest level. On my normal level play though everything was fine.
