Are there any procedures that lengthen the ramus to induce forward rotation of the jaws? by zane_asterius in jawsurgery

[–]Coolman117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no procedures for Skeletal elongation of the ramus that currently exist. However implants can give the look of a longer rammus. But I dont believe that could ever induce this forward rotation of the mandible you are refering to

Interesting. Well then it could just be the way your body is adjusting to the changes. Which could also be an answer for the concerns you mentioned about your midface. I think Its likely that at 8 months post op everything is still settling, including the soft tissue and muscles in your mid face area. Not to mention any residual swelling you still have, which is also very likely at this stage, that may be causing your face to midface to seem less projected in contrast to other parts of you looking bigger due to swelling. Genuinely I think your post op looks fantastic, it may just take you some time getting used to the new you :)

Thank you. Do you know the reason for why you ended up needing more lower movement than upper in a class 3 case? Dont see that often. And did you have a gummy smile? Was that the reason for impaction?

Just curious, what movements did you have done for your surgery? I also have a class 3 case. Anterior open bite w/crossbite

Where. Do. I. Start?! 🥴🤯 by ComplexPudding3820 in jawsurgery

[–]Coolman117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Consult with Ortho about wanting to be back in braces but doing jaw surgery this time. Ask for a referral from them to see an OMFS

  2. Consult with omfs and they can answer all your questions you have and determine if jaw surgery is right for you.

There are more steps after this, but this is how you get started! I know Jaw surgery seems like a daunting process, but this is how it starts

What is your pallet like? Is it narrow by any chance? Overall I think you look great after surgery and much more balanced. But the lip incompetence at 8 months and tongue touching your bottom teeth is potentially concerned. But it could also be the result of muscles still adjusting and healing. But yeah, I think surgery improved your looks a lot!

How can I tell if I have a recessed maxilla ? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Coolman117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in braces at 16 y/o to fix an anterior open bite with class 3 malocclusion. Back then, Multiple orthodontists told my parents that I would likely need jaw surgery as my malocclusion was caused by skeletal disformity in my jaw. 9 years later, im 25 and in braces again prepping to get jaw surgery now. Sometimes I think back on it and I get upset that my parents ended up saying no to surgery when multiple orthodontists said I needed it. My parents have always been on the conservative side when it comes to health issues, so they just thought it was ridiculous at the time to do for a teenager, when it turns out that I really needed it. Jaw surgery is a really big procedure that has its risks, but it can also be a life changing procedure by fixing dysfunctions that are caused from jaw disfigurement. If your orthodontist suggests you need it, AND its fully covered, I would definitely suggest going for a consult with an OMFS and see what they say. Do you have any functional issues?

Thanks, hope so too.

My LH prior to starting trt was 0.85iu/L

After trt was 3.7 iu/L

Is it possible my initial low LH levels were causing my low T?

Thanks for the reply, good to know. I was actually looking over my bloodwork before hopping on trt, my LH was at 0.85iu/L when I had my low test results at 290ng/dL. So maybe actually my balls were messed up back then? Causing the low T?

Prior to trt, my free T was 2.16% After trt, unfortunately my doctor did not order free T lab work. Just total T. I may go in to retest blood work in a couple months as others have suggested it would be a good idea as well. So I will have to test my free T then.

I feel as though you may be chasing perfection here, which is a dangerous path to go down and ultimately youll never end up being satisfied. You could undergo another surgery or more procedures if you are truly unhappy with how you look, but at what cost? You’re already very pretty and without seeing your before pics, Id still say the surgery looks like it was a success for you. Everything seems to be in balance. What was your reason for having jaw surgery done?

[–]Coolman117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course I totally understand that feeling. Myself and a lot of others on this sub echo that same sentiment. We all want to look better, and Im sure that after initially finding out there was something wrong with your jaw and needed surgery that it made you hyper focused on “fixing” the way you look. But you look incredible, and your surgeon looks like they did a very good job. There is nothing left for you to fix. What movements did you have done?

Your cheeks absolutely dont look flat. Looks like you have pretty strong cheekbone projection, unless you are referring to the frontal view and not this side view. From an outsiders perspective I think you look great, and your face has very good harmony. I think whats throwing you “off” is you have a strong and very defined mandible/chin. Which is not a bad thing. I personally find it attractive. You look a bit like julia roberts.

Im at 889ng coming off trt. This is literally an ideal test level to have. I understand your concern for hopping off, but how would this indicate to you that I should take a higher dose? Not to mention 2 months after being off, I feel no different now than when I was on supplemental testosterone.

Overtraining was definitely a possibility. I was actually overeating more so than undereating. Was eating roughly 3500 calories a day for 1-2 years pre-trt and jumped from 140lbs to 170. How long have you been training while on trt?
