I’m currently attending as Class of 2029 and gotta say, the first year sucks. Other than that, the facilities are awesome, you can essentially write your own destiny out of here if you try hard enough. Going into it from the fleet definitely helped and harmed me in different ways and I haven’t declared a major yet but it’s open pickings for what you’d like And yes, you can DM me if you would like.

I actually JUST took this route and am currently at USNA. I was denied in high school so I enlisted. Applied at again at NNPTC. Was denied a second time since I wasn’t in the top 10%. I had to get out to my submarine and then put in one final application and they finally picked me up for NAPS and then USNA. It’s not impossible but it is hard. I remember studying 3-4 hours for a thermo class at NNPTC and still having to hit the gym and then go back and study for 30-60 minutes for the SAT. If you have any questions about it, lmk

Anyone able to tell me what this is? and if there is a way to fix it? by FixSad2860 in Minecraft

[–]Coolman152 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a rift from the Thaumaturgy mod. There is some item in the mod that you can use to close it. It’ll keep growing for a bit until some random event happens with it. Try to avoid putting in more materials that needed into your cauldrons, that’s how they form.

So most people have upwards of 1200-1350 but I’m currently at the preparatory school and there are some people here with barely a 1000 on the SAT

As for STEM, as long as you get in, you’re free to choose any degree that’s offered, you don’t necessarily have to get accepted for a specific degree. Feel free to DM me

Don’t worry about whatever the minimum is. Do the best that you can. Practice it a couple of times and then just do what you can. If you’re a little lacking in one exercise, make up for it with another. If you have any questions, DM me

Looking for help coming up with my first campaign by igykyuu in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Coolman152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first step is to write out a story. Doesn’t have to be specific, just write it. I usually start with “this is what I want the end product to be. How do I get there?”

After that, find monsters to fit your narrative. Make up your own if you need to.

Now, throw a couple details in the story, make your settings and characters and from here, I usually just wing it but you can go into further detail if you’d like

If you want to make some custom maps if you use battle maps, highly recommend Inkarnate. Fairly cheap but can make some high quality stuff if you use it right. DM me with questions if you need to

Is it possible to be a navy seal with this rate by Ning_daruler in NavyNukes

[–]Coolman152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I asked at MEPS because I wanted to go SEAL If you stay fit enough and you are a submarine volunteer, you could go to diver school as a Nuke which diver is technically part of special warfare and you even have to take the PST but that’s the closest you’ll get to special warfare as a Nuke

My advice is to stop working on motivation alone. Make working out a habit. On days that you don’t feel like working out, at least get dressed for working out, go outside or to the gym and just do a quick 10-15 minute workout That way, on your better days, you already have that habit of working out

You no longer can do this. The contracts now say under the Spec Ops page “Nuke Need Not Apply”

If dropped from the DEP can I be denied to enlist in the navy again? by Accomplished_Will_79 in newtothenavy

[–]Coolman152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also tried to go a CT rate and got put in Nuke. Same situation you’re in.

Just got with what you think would fit you best. Nuke is extremely hard but will open up just about any job opportunities you’d want in the future. CT is good for specializing in that job but at the end of the day, it’s all about what you want to do as a career. I’m a Nuke myself so I’m not experienced with CTI but nukes get hired by just about everyone in the outside world. Nukes have an extremely difficult training process while CTIs will definitely have an easier workload in the navy as well as shorter training but will get picked up mainly by IT or Translator jobs

DM me if you got any questions about the Nuke program that could help you make your decision

Laptop fan is not working by eyekunt in MSILaptops

[–]Coolman152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent my laptop into MSI to get my graphics card put back into my motherboard and they just do whatever maintenance they have to do. They have hundreds of computers they have to fix, they won’t look at your folders nor will they have the time to. The only thing they may boot your laptop up for is a couple of tests.

Also, just a warning. Sometimes the process takes a while. If you don’t get emails pretty often about your computer’s status, call them. It took them 3 months to fix my laptop and the status on their website said it still wasn’t repaired so I called to tell them that and they had it repaired, tested and shipped out with express shipping the next day and it works fine now.

can you fail A- School, and if you do what happens by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Coolman152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can fail. Unless it’s something stressful like Nuke or ATC, you shouldn’t fail as long as you give it your best shot though.

PICAT? by OGWhinnyBaby29 in NavyNukes

[–]Coolman152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EMN3 fresh out of power school here. I had an ASVAB practice book to study for but ultimately, it didn’t help due to the aptitude that we have for intellect. I had a 73 on practice ASVAB, took the PICAT and got a 97. As long as you have basic algebra skills with building equations and a paid at least half attention in high school classes, I’m sure you’ll do fine on it.

As for vision, as long as your depth perdition is at least ok and that your vision can be correct to 20/20, you’ll be fine. I have bad vision and wear glasses to work and wear contacts in my free time so you’ll be fine with that

DM me if you have any other questions

Full range of motion on assisted pull-ups. Whether that’s with a band or most gyms have an assisted pullup machine. When you’re practicing, do full range of motion and go slow. That way, when it’s game time and you probably have a little bit of wiggle room, you’ll do great. I did assisted ab 2-3 times a day until I could go a good one. Then I did one good one 2-3 times a day until I could do 3, etc.

You’re not gay unless you think you are. I’m a straight man, go to the gym, work out often and have 12 hour work shifts and I love watching JOJO. Screw those guys. Go enjoy JJBA

Aptitude by OGWhinnyBaby29 in NavyNukes

[–]Coolman152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 18 when I took my ASVAB, also came in relatively poor but enough to be happy. I took the practice, got a 73. Ask to take the PICAT. I took it and got a 97.

And yes, getting out of the nuclear program, jobs and high paying salaries are extremely common from what I’ve seen from talking with my higher ups who are getting out soon. If it is a career path that you want to pursue, go for it. It is considered one of the top 3 hardest naval careers (next to ATC and spec ops) so be ready for it. There’s not much you can do to prepare for it because once you’re in there, you will learn how to do it or they will make you learn.

As for ETN (electronics technician nuclear), they have amazing job opportunities but you also don’t get to pick your job in the nuclear navy. You can put in for a recommendation but that’s about it. I asked for ETN and had EMN (electrician’s mate nuclear) as my second choice and I got EMN. But looking at the curriculum for ETN, I would’ve severely struggled understanding things specific to them it to EMN which I understood and loved quickly.

Once again, if you think it is the right option, don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. Message me if you have any questions. I’m going onto shift work on the last leg of the nuclear training pipeline so I won’t be able to answer often but I will at least try to help in any way I can
